Interconceptualizing Europe and Peace : Identity Building Under the European Heritage Label

AbstractThis chapter investigates how peace is used in attempts to build a collective identity for the European Union in the context of the European Heritage Label (EHL), a central instrument in the EU’s cultural heritage policy. The official EHL documents and the websites of the EHL sites are analysed using a conceptual approach that particularly focuses on the interconceptualizations between peace and Europe. The ways peace is discussed can be divided into four thematic categories: treaties, institutions, practices, and symbols related to peace. The chapter concludes that heritage related to peace is mainly discussed in a non-contradictory manner, with little space for dissonance.

Idebenone (IDE) is a strong antioxidant that has been proposed for the treatment of skin disorders, including skin ageing. Unfavorable physico-chemical properties make IDE a poor skin permeant where effectiveness could be improved by its loading into suitable delivery systems such as solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC). International audience; This paper mobilizes the concept of value to investigate the influence of physical surroundings on artistic experiences. First the literature on value is reviewed to ascertain just how useful the concept is for understanding the physical environment. The use of the concept supplements other research perspectives on the issue of physical surroundings (sensorial marketing, appropriation). There follows a presentation of the various stages in constructing a scale of perceived value applied to live performances. The paper concludes with a discussion of results (contributions, management implications, research limits, and avenues for further inquiry).
