ChemInform Abstract: First Synthesis of Medium-Sized Ring Allenyl Lactams.
2012
Medium-sized lactams bearing an axially chiral allene unit have been synthesized by using an aza-ketene Claisen rearrangement. Starting from 2-alkynylpiperidines or 2-alkynylazepines, ring enlargement enabled the highly diastereoselective formation of 10- or 11-membered lactams with a 4,5-allene subunit. X-ray analysis of the allenylacezinone showed the presence of a strained cumulated olefin system with a defined arrangement of the functional groups. The cyclic allenes were found to be stable upon heating up to 50 °C.

Die kinetik der allendimerisation, ein beitrag zum mechanismus
1971
Zusammenfassung The reaction kinetics of the dimerization of some polyhalogenated allenes with the general formula Cl2CCCCIX (X = Cl, Br, C6H5, COOEt) and of tetrabromoallene was studied by an IR spectrophotometric method. The reaction was found to be of strictly second order kinetics. The activation parameters were determined and the experimental data and the influence of the substituents were discussed in terms of the accepted general theory of allene cycloaddition. All data are in agreement with a non-concerted two-step electrocyclic addition mechanism. Within the experimental limits no paramagnetic species like a diradical could be detected by the ESR-method during the dimerization re…
A molecular electron density theory study of the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of nitrones with strained allenes
2017
Indexación: Scopus. The [3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) reaction of C-phenyl-N-tert-butylnitrone with 1,2-cyclohexadiene (CHDE), a strained allene, has been studied within Molecular Electron Density Theory (MEDT) at the DFT B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) computational level. This non-polar 32CA reaction, which takes place through a non-concerted two-stage one-step mechanism, proceeds with a moderate Gibbs free activation energy of 22.7 kcal mol-1, and presents low stereo- and regioselectivities. The reaction begins by the creation of a pseudoradical center at the central carbon of the strained allene with a relatively low energy cost, which immediately promotes the formation the first C-C single bond. This…
Gas-Phase Vibrational Spectroscopy of the Hydrocarbon Cations l-C3H+, HC3H+, and c-C3H2+: Structures, Isomers, and the Influence of Ne-Tagging
2019
We report the first gas-phase vibrational spectra of the hydrocarbon ions C3H+ and C3H2+. The ions were produced by electron impact ionization of allene. Vibrational spectra of the mass-selected ions tagged with Ne were recorded using infrared predissociation spectroscopy in a cryogenic ion trap instrument using the intense and widely tunable radiation of a free electron laser. Comparison of high-level quantum chemical calculations and resonant depletion measurements revealed that the C3H+ ion is exclusively formed in its most stable linear isomeric form, whereas two isomers were observed for C3H2+. Bands of the energetically favored cyclic c-C3H2+ are in excellent agreement with calculated…
Cycloadditionen von 2H ‐Benzo[ b ]thiet und Verbindungen mit kumulierten Doppelbindungen
1994
Cycloaddition Reactions of 2H-Benzo[b]thiete and Compounds with Cumulated Double Bonds o-Thiobenzoquinone methide (2), generated by thermal ring opening of 2H-benzo[b]thiete (1), reacts with allene 3, ketene imine 7, the carbodiimides 9a-c, and the N-sulfinylamines 11a-c in highly specific [8π + 2π] cycloaddition processes to form novel types of heterocyclic systems 4, 8, 10a-c, and 12a-c with exocyclic double bonds. The 1:1 adduct 4 can add a further molecule of allene to yield the spiro compounds 5 and 6.
Specific adduction of plant lipid transfer protein by an allene oxide generated by 9-lipoxygenase and allene oxide synthase
2006
International audience; Lipid transfer proteins (LTPs) are ubiquitous plant lipid-binding proteins that have been associated with multiple developmental and stress responses. Although LTPs typically bind fatty acids and fatty acid derivatives in a non-covalent way, studies on the LTPs of barley seeds have identified an abundantly occurring covalently modified form, LTP1b, the lipid ligand of which has resisted clarification. In the present study, this adduct was identified as the {alpha}-ketol 9-hydroxy-10-oxo-12(Z)-octadecenoic acid. Further studies on the formation of LTP1b demonstrated that the ligand was introduced by nucleophilic attack of the free carboxylate group of the Asp-7 residu…
Do Extremely Bent Allenes Exist?
2009
Bent allenes: Theoretical calculations show that extremely bent allenes, cyclic or acyclic, adopt a ground state that only bears a formal relationship to classical allenes. Consequently, five-membered ring allenes favor a carbene-like electronic structure and formally contain a trivalent carbon(II) center. peerReviewed

Abstract Flash pyrolysis of the strained cyclic alkynes 1 leads to ring systems 2 with an exocyclic allene group and in a further isomerization step to the conjugated vinyl compounds 3 .
Reactions of Terphenyl-Substituted Digallene AriPr4GaGaAriPr4 (AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6-(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) with Transition Metal Carbonyls and Theoretical In…
2016
The neutral digallene AriPr4GaGaAriPr4 (AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6-(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) was shown to react at ca. 25 °C in pentane solution with group 6 transition metal carbonyl complexes M(CO)6 (M = Cr, Mo, W) under UV irradiation to afford compounds of the general formula trans-[M(GaAriPr4)2(CO)4] in modest yields. The bis(gallanediyl) complexes were characterized spectroscopically and by X-ray crystallography, which demonstrated that they were isostructural. In each complex, the gallium atom is two-coordinate with essentially linear geometry, which is relatively rare for gallanediyl-substituted transition metal species. The experimental data show that the gallanediyl ligand :GaAriPr4 behaves as a g…
