Determination of triazines and organophosphorus pesticides in water samples using solid-phase extraction.

1991

Abstract Octadecyl (C 18 )-bonded porous silica was evaluated for the extraction of triazine and organophosphorus pesticides from natural water. The extraction results showed an effective performance when 1 l of water was passed through small glass columns containing 500 mg of 50–100-μm C 18 bonded porous silica. The absorbed compounds were removed with ethyl acetate, evaporated to 200 μl and determined by gas chromatography. The overall average recoveries were greater than 85% except for dimethoate and trichlorfon. Application of this procedure to the analysis of natural water samples gave results that agree well with those obtained by solvent extraction methods.

Performance of Markers and the Homologous Series Method for Dead Time Estimation in Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography

2009

Abstract Two methods for dead time estimation (the use of markers and the homologous series mathematical method) are revised. Out of twelve assayed common markers, only KBr, KI, tartrazine, thiourea, uracil, and urea yielded retention times independent of the mobile phase composition in the range 10–90% acetonitrile, using a Zorbax Eclipse XDB−C18 column. On the other hand, the quality of the estimations provided by the homologous series method was limited by the mathematical approach and the data quality. With this method, the estimated dead time is an extrapolated value, which is severely affected by the data of the most retained compounds that act as leverage points, biasing the result. …

Method development for the determination of 1,1-dimethylhydrazine by the high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry technique.

2018

Unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine is highly toxic, carcinogenic compound, widely used for organic synthesis and drug development. Therefore, due to its high reactivity, direct analysis is problematic. Current study proposes to use derivatization reaction to increase selectivity and sensitivity of high-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry method. Different derivatization agents were tested and optimal reaction media was found. Derivatization was performed by using small amounts of reagents to lower the cost of analysis. The full validation of the method was performed and it can be used in a routine control in pharmaceutical analysis. Method sensitivity is 0.15 ppm, and lineari…

Affinity chromatography with triazine dyes immobilized onto activated non-porous monodisperse silicas

1988

Abstract Non-porous monodisperse silicas with a particle diameter of 2.1 μm were modified with different silanes for immobilization of various triazine dyes including Procion Red HE3B, Procion Red MX5B, and Cibacron Blue F3GA. Lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase from different species and aldehyde reductase from rat brain were purified by affinity elution using the substrate of the enzyme and NADH. With Cibacron F3GA the selectivity for NADH-dependent enzymes was higher than with the two Procion dyes. The utility of these immobilized triazine dye systems on non-porous silica supports for the rapid separation of Cohn Fraction III plasma proteins, including plasminogen, is also des…

Continuous-flow spectrophotometric determination of sulfadiazine by diazotisation with in situ preparation of nitrite

1995

Abstract Nitrite is prepared in situ for the determination of sulfadiazine. The method is based on solid-phase reduction of copperized cadmium of nitrate; the nitrite reagent merges with the sample stream in hydrochloric acid medium and the resulting mixture is injected into the water carrier, pure distilled water, and then merges with the N-(1-naphthyl)ethylendiamine reagent and is measured spectrophotometrically at 542.0 nm. The calibration graph is linear over the range 0.5–50 μg ml−1 sulfadiazine, mid-range R.S.D. = 0.3% (n = 5) and sample throughput 72 h−1. The procedure is applied to sulfadiazine determination in a pharmaceutical formulation and to in vitro dissolution studies of two …

Influence of the solvent on the gas chromatographic behaviour of urea herbicides

2001

Degradation products of chlorsulfuron, chlortoluron, diuron, fluometuron, isoproturon, linuron, metabenzthiazuron, metobromuron, and monuron formed in the gas chromatographic injector have been used for identification of the respective herbicides. Mass spectra of the derived compounds were obtained with a quadrupole mass spectrometric detector working in scan mode (20–450 amu). The compounds generated often depended on the solvent used for phenylurea herbicide injection (ethanol, methanol, dichloromethane, and acetonitrile). When methanol and ethanol were used as solvents the major products formed from phenylureas were carbamic acid esters. When acetonitrile or dichloromethane were used the…

Effect of solvents on the selectivity of terbutylazine imprinted polymer sorbents used in solid-phase extraction

2002

A solid-phase extraction sample preparation method using a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) selective for the triazine type pesticide terbutylazine has been developed. The method involves preconcentration from large volumes of water samples on a C18 disk coupled to selective clean-up on the MIP. The method has been optimised by studying the recovery and retention of terbutylazine and some other structurally related triazine derivates as a function of the selective washing solvent used. The effect of the water content of the selective washing solvent was also investigated on the recovery of the MIP. River water samples were analysed with the coupled technique, and efficient clean-up of th…

Spectrophotometric Determination of Hydralazine with 2-Hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde in Pharmaceuticals

1991

Abstract A new extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of hydralazine, based on its reaction with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde at 25 °C, is described. The calibration curve was linear between 0.4 and 6 mg/mL of hydralazine. The molar absorbtivity of the product at 408 nm is 40 900 L · mol − 1 · cm − 1 . The method described was applied to the analysis of hydralazine in pharmaceutical preparations containing reserpine, hydrochlorothiazide, bendrofluorthiazine, propranolol, and other substances. The agreement with the U.S.P. XXI method was satisfactory for tablets and injections, but not for pellets.

Enantioseparation of phenotiazines by affinity electrokinetic chromatography using human serum albumin as chiral selector

2007

Nowadays, there is a special interest within the pharmaceutical laboratories to develop single enantiomer formulations and consequently a need for analytical methods to determine the enantiomeric purity of drugs. The present paper deals with the enantiomeric separation of promethazine and trimeprazine enantiomers by affinity electrokinetic chromatography (AEKC)-partial filling technique using human serum albumin (HSA) as chiral selector. A multivariate optimization of the most critical experimental variables in enantioresolution, running pH, HSA concentration and plug length, is carried out to obtain enantioresolution of promethazine and trimeprazine. The estimated maximum and optimum resol…

Atropine-resistant effects of the muscarinic agonists McN-A-343 and AHR 602 on cardiac performance and the release of noradrenaline from sympathetic …

1974

Abstract 1 The effects of 4-(m-chlorophenylcarbamoyloxy)-2-butynyltrimethylammonium chloride (McN-A-343) and N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidyl acetate methobromide (AHR 602) on cardiac performance and noradrenaline release from terminal sympathetic fibres were measured in isolated perfused hearts of rabbits. 2 In the presence of sufficient atropine to block muscarinic receptors, high concentrations of McN-A-343 and AHR 602 caused no cardiac stimulation and there was no increase in the resting output of noradrenaline into the perfusates. 3 McN-A-343 and AHR 602 increased both the mechanical responses and the transmitter overflow evoked by electrical stimulation of the sympathetic nerves (SNS) but inhibi…
