Effect of growth regulators onin vitro propagation ofFicus benjamina cv. Exotica
1994
Stem internodes with axillary buds were excised from 5-year old trees ofFicus benjamina cv. Exotica. The effect of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), gibberellic acid (GA3), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) on shoot growth and proliferationin vitro was investigated. Multiple shoots were developed after 3–4 weeks from stem internodes with axillary buds incubated in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with phloroglucinol (PG) and BAP. Optimum shoot proliferation took place in the presence of 1.0 mg l−1 BAP. Shoots obtained could be elongated in a medium with 0.5 mg l−1 GA3 prior to their rooting. The root initiation was succ…
Internodal elongation in the grapevine (<em>Vitis vinifera</em> L.) : leaf influences and role of the shoot apex
1996
<p style="text-align: justify;">The respective influences of the leaves and shoot apex on stimulation of internodal elongation were studied in the grapevine. Various defoliation or decapitation treatments were applied to the shoot of rooted hardwood cuttings grown in a controlled environment chamber.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Concerning the foliar influences, the role of three sorts of leaves, in relation to their nodal position relative to the internode was analysed ; its own leaves, the leaves located below it and the young leaves neoformed above. The effects produced by excision of these different leaves show that the two adjacent leaves (below and above) of th…
1977
Summary The enzyme choline kinase (ATP: Choline phosphotransferase E.C. 2.7.1.32) was extracted and partially purified from hypocotyl hooks of Phaseolus vulgaris L. seedlings. K m -value and pH-dependence of the activity were determined. The amount of enzyme activity in extracts depended on light conditions used for plant growth. Etiolated seedlings showed much lower enzyme levels than those grown in white light. Blue and red light conditions decreased enzyme levels below dark values. The in vitro enzyme activity was influenced by inhibitors and growth regulators. The enzyme activity was stimulated by Atropine, 2-Chloroethylammoniumchloride (Cycocel) and Gibberellic acid and was inhibited b…
Hormone Effects on the Membrane Potential and on Sucrose-Induced Depolarization of Young Citrus Leaves
1992
Influence of culture conditions on embryo formation and maturation in auxin-induced embryogenic cultures of Digitalis obscura.
1994
Somatic embryogenesis was induced in hypocotyls of Digitalis obscura using indoleacetic acid or 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid with different culture and subculture conditions. Indoleacetic acid-induced embryogenic cultures were used to investigate the effects of amino acids, polyamines and growth regulators on embryo differentiation and maturation. Supplementation of the media with amino acids, polyamines or abscisic acid did not influence or had an adverse effect on embryogenic response. Gibberellic acid at 1.4 μM in either culture (30 days) or subculture medium was effective in promoting both differentiation and normal embryo development. The efficiency of somatic embryogenesis was great…
Demonstration and study of characters of foliar « compensatory growth» phenomenon in grapevine (<em>Vitis vinifera</em> L.)
1996
<p style="text-align: justify;">Defoliation and decapitation experiments showed that the growth of a grapevine leaf was inhibited by both the terminal bud and the younger higher leaves. There is a phenomenon of synergy between these two influences. A young leaf freed of these two influences showed a higher growth rate than the norm ; this is « compensatory growth ». It is when a leaf is in its phase of maximal growth that it is most able to realize this &amp;laquo compensatory growth ». This is not due to a longer growth time, but more to a faster growth rate. This « compensatory growth » is not the consequence of competition between leaf growth and internodal elongation. Exogenou…
Effects of Gibberellic Acid on Morphogenesis and Cardenolide Accumulation in Juvenile and Adult Digitalis obscura Cultures
1993
Summary Effects of gibberellic acid on morphogenesis and cardenolide accumulation in in vitro cultures of Digitalis obscura are reported. Cultures were established from hypocotyls or leaves of axenic seedlings and shoot tips of mature plants. Irrespective of the kind of explant, gibberellic acid by itself did not induce morphogenesis but modified those morphogenic responses promoted by auxins and/or cytokinins, always inhibited organogenesis and favoured both embryo formation and conversion into plants. Gibberellic acid did not significantly affect cardenolide content of plants regenerated from juvenile or mature D. obscura explants.
The construction of school participation. The Geoforo Iberoamericano in 2017
2017
