Impact of the synergistic collaboration of oligothiophene bridges and ruthenium complexes on the optical properties of dumbbell-shaped compounds.
2012
The linear and non-linear optical properties of a family of dumbbell-shaped dinuclear complexes, in which an oligothiophene chain with various numbers of rings (1, 3, and 6) acts as a bridge between two homoleptic tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) complexes, have been fully investigated by using a range of spectroscopic techniques (absorption and luminescence, transient absorption, Raman, and non-linear absorption), together with density functional theory calculations. Our results shed light on the impact of the synergistic collaboration between the electronic structures of the two chemical moieties on the optical properties of these materials. Experiments on the linear optical properties …
Rational design of covalently bridged [FeIII2MIIO] clusters
2010
We are reporting the first supramolecular dimeric units of basic carboxylates. The neutral [FeIII 2MIIO] motif for different 3d M metals is covalently bound through 2,2′-bipyrimidine. We have structurally characterized the hexanuclear clusters and the related trinuclear building blocks. Their magnetic properties have been fully analyzed and DFT calculations have been performed as a supplementary tool. All results evidence a weak antiferromagnetic interaction through the bpym bridge between isolated spin ground states (in some examples) arising from intra-Fe 2MO core exchange couplings. A Liquid-Liquid Biphasic Homogeneous Organocatalytic Aldol Protocol Based on the Use of a Silica Gel Bound Multilayered Ionic Liquid Phase
2012
An innovative two stage liquid–liquid biphasic homogeneous protocol for the asymmetric organocatalytic aldol reaction is proposed, based on the use of the cis-ion-tagged proline 8 dissolved in the liquid film of a multilayered ionic liquid covalently bonded to silica gel 4. The resulting catalytically active material 9 is first soaked with cyclohexanone in the presence of water, resulting in a semi-transparent gel, then the aldehyde is added and the mixture stirred at RT. In the first stage, 4 acts as a catalyst reservoir that delivers 8 to the cyclohexanone phase allowing the reaction to take place homogeneously. In the second stage, cyclohexanone is removed under vacuum and the resulting …
Organotin(IV) chloride complexes with phosphocholine and dimyristoyl-L-?-phosphatidylcholine
2000
Several complexes of R n SnCl 4-n (R = Me, Ph, n = 1-3; R = nBu, n = 2, 3) with phosphocholine and dimyristoyl-L-α-phosphatidylcholine (phospholipid) have been synthesized and characterized by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy and NMR. Triorganotin chlorides form complexes of (R 3 SnCl) 2 .L stoichiometry with a trigonal bipyramidal pentacoordinate tin environment, while the others form 1:1 complexes with an octahedral hexacoordinate tin environment, with the ligands coordinating through anionic phosphodiester moieties in all cases.
Tin(IV) complexes with O-ethyl(N-ethyl-N,N-dimethylammoniomethyl)phosphonate
1999
Abstract O,O-Diethyl-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)phosphonate undergoes ethyl migration leading to O-ethyl-(N-ethyl-N,N-dimethylammoniomethyl)phosphonate (L). Several new complexes of tin(IV) and organotin(IV) chlorides with the title ligand have been synthesized. The stoichiometry of the obtained complexes is as follows: (R3SnCl)2 · L (R=Me, Bu, Ph), R2SnCl2 · L (R=Me, Bu, Ph), RSnCl3 L (R=Me, Ph) and SnCl4 · L. All the complexes have been studied in solution by means of 1H-, 13C-, 31P- and 119Sn-NMR spectroscopy. Their solid state structures have been investigated by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy and the molecular structure of the complex (Ph3SnCl)2 · L has been determined by X-ray crystall…
A Combined Experimental and Theoretical Study on Bis(μ‐alkoxo)diiron(III) Complexes with Hydroxybenzylaminoethanol [O,N,O] Donor Ligands: Syntheses, …
2011
Three new neutral bis(μ-alkoxo)diiron(III) complexes were prepared from N(R),N-(2-methylene-4,6-di-tert-butylphenol)aminoethan-1-ol ligands (H2L1, R = Me and H2L2, R = H). In these complexes, the ligand wraps around the metal center exhibiting a tridentate facial coordination mode with alkoxo-bridging oxygen, amine nitrogen and phenoxo oxygen donor atoms. In the complex [Fe(acac)L1]2·MeCN (1) acetylacetonato coligand complete the distorted octahedral coordination spheres of the iron(III) ions, whereas in the five-coordinate iron(III) chloride complexes [FeClL1]2 (2) and [FeClL2]2 (3) the ligands induce a geometry that is intermediate between square pyramidal and trigonal bipyramidal. Magnet…
3,3′-Disubstitued 2,2′-Bipyridines as Carboxylate Receptors: Conformational Regulation of the Bipyridine Moiety
2008
Two bipyridine derivatives were synthesized and characterized, and their ability to act as sensors for carboxylates was evaluated by UV/Vis and fluorescence studies. The influence of the substituents of the thiourea groups on the stoichiometry of the resulting dicarboxylate complexes was established. Conformational changes in the bipyridine moiety under different conditions were evaluated.(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2008)
Dual-emitting Langmuir-Blodgett film-based organic light-emitting diodes.
2010
Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films containing alternating layers of the metallosurfactants bis(4,4'-tridecyl-2,2'-bipyridine)-(4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium(II)-bis(chloride) (1) and bis[2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine](4,4'-dinonadecyl-2,2'-bipyridine)iridium(III) chloride (2) have been prepared. Langmuir monolayers at the air-water interface of 1 and 2 with different anions in the subphase have been characterized by pi-A compression isotherms and Brewster angle microscopy (BAM). The transferred LB films have been characterized by IR, UV-vis and emission spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Electroluminescent devices formed by LB films containing alternating layers of thes…
Congener profile, occurrence and estimated dietary intake of dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs in foods marketed in the Region of Valencia (Spain).
2011
During 2006-2008, a monitoring program was conducted on 29 target compounds, including PCDD/Fs and dl-PCBs, comprising 150 randomly collected individual food samples marketed in the Region of Valencia, Spain, grouped into 8 categories (vegetables, cereals, fats and oils, eggs, milk and dairy products, fish products, meat and meat products and fish oil). For PCDD/Fs, the highest frequency of detection corresponds to 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDD, OCDD, 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF; and PCBs 118, 105 and 156 were the more frequent dl-PCBs. The food groups presenting higher contamination, expressed as toxic equivalents (WHO-TEQs), were fish oil (6.38 pg WHO-TEQ g(-1)fat), fish (1.21 pg WHO-TEQ g(-1)w.w.) and milk an…
Endoplasmic reticulum‐resident chaperones modulate the inflammatory and angiogenic responses of endothelial cells
2015
SummaryBackground Wound healing depends on a well-balanced regulation of inflammation and angiogenesis. In chronic wounds the healing process is disturbed and inflammation persists. Regulation of wound closure is controlled by transmembrane and extracellular proteins, the folding and maturation of which occur in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) by ER-resident chaperone machinery. Objectives To study the role of the ER-resident chaperones BiP/Grp78, its cochaperone Mdg1/ERdJ4, and Grp94 in chronic, nonhealing wounds. Methods Immunohistochemical staining of these chaperones in individual human biopsies and investigation of the possible role of BiP and Mdg1 in endothelial cells, focusing on thei…
