Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane on diluted or promoted nickel oxide catalysts: Influence of the promoter/diluter

2020

Ti- and Nb- containing NiO catalysts have been synthesized by two different preparation methods: i) by precipitation (Me-Ni-O oxides, Me = Nb or Ti), in order to prepare promoted NiO catalysts; and ii) by wet impregnation on TiO or NbO supports, in order to prepare diluted/supported NiO catalysts. The catalysts have been also characterized and tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane. The catalytic performance of Ti- and Nb-promoted catalysts strongly depends on the composition, although in both cases the optimal one is found at similar Ti or Nb loadings (ca. 90 wt% NiO), showing similar ethylene selectivity in the ODH of ethane (ca. 90% at 10–20% ethane conversion). However, in th…

Nickel oxide supported on porous clay heterostructures as selective catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane

2016

[EN] Porous clay heterostructures (PCH) have shown to be highly efficient supports for nickel oxide in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane. Thus NiO supported on silica with a PCH structure shows productivity towards ethylene three times higher than if NiO is supported on a conventional silica. This enhanced productivity is due to the increase in the catalytic activity and especially to the drastic increase in the selectivity to ethylene. Additionally, PCH silica partially modified with titanium in the columns (PCH-Ti) have also been synthesized and used as supports for NiO. An enhanced activity and selectivity to ethylene was found over NiO supported over PCH-Ti compared to the corresp…

Mass spectral identification of the blocked N-terminal tryptic peptide of the ATPase inhibitor from beef heart mitochondria

1984

AbstractThe presence of a formyl blocking group at the N-terminus of the ATPase inhibitor has been identified and the partial sequence of the N-terminal peptide has been determined by fast atom bombardment and field desorption coupled to mass spectrometry. Minor discrepancies in amino acid sequence of the inhibitor between the present and published data [(1981) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 78, 7403-7407] are reported and its relationships with other inhbitors are briefly discussed.

MERCURY: A Transparent Guided I/O Framework for High Performance I/O Stacks

2017

The performance gap between processors and I/O represents a serious scalability limitation for applications running on computing clusters. Parallel file systems often provide mechanisms that allow programmers to disclose their I/O pattern knowledge to the lower layers of the I/O stack through a hints API. This information can be used by the file system to boost the application performance. Unfortunately, programmers rarely make use of these features, missing the opportunity to exploit the full potential of the storage system. In this paper we propose MERCURY, a transparent guided I/O framework able to optimize file I/O patterns in scientific applications, allowing users to control the I/O b…

Intraovarian regulation of gonadotropin-dependent folliculogenesis depends on notch receptor signaling pathways not involving Delta-like ligand 4 (Dl…

2013

Background In-situ hybridisation studies demonstrate that Notch receptors and ligands are expressed in granulosa cells (GCs) and in the theca layer vasculature of growing follicles. Notch signaling involves cell-to-cell interaction mediated by transmembrane receptors and ligands. This signaling pathway may represent a novel intraovarian regulator of gonadotropin-dependent follicular development to the preovulatory stage. We hypothesized that blocking Notch pathways would disrupt follicular maturation in the mouse ovary. Methods Hypophysectomized CD21 female mice were administered pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) for 3 days to stimulate follicular development. In one experiment, a pan…

Electrochemical synthesis of carbazoles by dehydrogenative coupling reaction

2020

Abstract A constant current protocol, employing undivided cells, a remarkably low supporting electrolyte concentration, inexpensive electrode materials, and a straightforward precursor synthesis enabling a novel access to N‐protected carbazoles by anodic N,C bond formation using directly generated amidyl radicals is reported. Scalability of the reaction is demonstrated and an easy deblocking of the benzoyl protecting group is presented.

Hydrocracking ofn-heptane. Study of NiO-MoO3catalysts supported on a HY ultrastable zeolite

1986

The hydrocracking of n-heptane in the temperature range of 573 to 623 K and at 2.45 × 106 Pa pressure has been employed as a test reaction for the study of Ni—Mo bifunctional catalysts supported on a HY ultrastable zeolite. Two groups of catalysts containing 8 and 12 wt% of MoO3 and different amounts of NiO have been studied. In both series a maximum in the activity has been obtained for catalysts with a Ni/Mo atomic ratio of 0.8-1.0. The order of the impregnation of the oxides can have little influence on the activity. The most active catalyst has been obtained when the zeolite is exchanged with NH+4 ions until the Na+ level is less than 2% of the original and calcined at 823 K to obtain a…

Hydrocracking ofn-heptane with a NiO-MoO3/HYUS zeolite as catalyst. Kinetic study

1988

The hydrocracking of n-heptane has been carried out in a fixed bed reactor at 2.45 MPa pressure and with a H2/n-heptane molar ratio of 5.0 using a 4 wt% NiO - 8 wt% MO3/HYUS zeolite as a catalyst. The W/F10 ratio was varied between 75.3 and 1624 kg · s/kmol at different reaction temperatures: 573, 588, 603 and 623 K. The kinetics of the reaction has been studied by two different procedures due to the slight deactivation of the catalyst. One of them uses the conversion and yield values extrapolated at time on stream to zero and the other uses a kinetic equation where the deactivation of the catalyst has been included. The experimental data were fit well by a pseudo-first order kinetic equati…

Raman scattering in nanosized nickel oxide NiO

2007

Magnetic ordering in nanosized (100 and 1500 nm) nickel oxide NiO powders, prepared by the plasma synthesis method, was studied using Raman scattering spectroscopy in a wide range of temperatures from 10 to 300 K. It was observed that the intensity of two- magnon band decreases rapidly for smaller crystallites size. This effect is attributed to a decrease of antiferromagnetic spin correlations and leads to the antiferromagnetic-to- paramagnetic phase transition .

Synthesis and characterization of a new layered organic-inorganic hybrid nickel(II) 1,4 : 5,8-naphthalenediimide bis-phosphonate, exhibiting canted a…

2008

A new Ni(II) layered hybrid organic-inorganic compound of formula Ni{sub 2}[(NDI-BP)(H{sub 2}O){sub 2}].2H{sub 2}O has been prepared in very mild conditions from N,N'-bis(2-phosphonoethyl)napthalene-1,4:5,8-tetracarboximide (NDI-BP ligand) and NiCl{sub 2}. The X-ray powder structure characterization of the title compound suggests a pillared layered organic-inorganic hybrid structure. The distance between the organic and inorganic layers has been found to be 17.8 A. The inorganic layers consist of corner sharing [NiO{sub 5}(H{sub 2}O)] octahedra and they are pillared by the diphosphonate groups. DC and AC magnetic measurements as a function of temperature and field indicate the presence of 2…
