LGBT kopiena veido nozīmīgu mūsdienu sabiedrības daļu, taču par kopienas lietoto terminoloģiju Latvijā tiek maz runāts. Maģistra darba “LGBT terminoloģijas atveide latviešu valodā” mērķis ir saprast, cik attīstīta ir LGBT terminoloģija latviešu valodā. Pētījuma uzdevums ir aplūkot darba ietvaros izstrādāto LGBT glosāriju un saprast, cik lielai daļai analizējamo vienību ir latviskie ekvivalenti, cik daudz ir bezekvivalenta leksikas, kādas stratēģijas tiek izmantotas atveidē, ar kādām grūtībām var saskarties terminrades procesā un kādi ir iespējamie risinājumi. ABSTRACT Bacillus subtilis 168 is resistant to phenolic acids by expression of an inducible enzyme, the phenolic acid decarboxylase (PadC), that decarboxylates these acids into less toxic vinyl derivatives. In the phenolic acid stress response (PASR), the repressor of padC , PadR, is inactivated by these acids. Inactivation of PadR is followed by a strong expression of padC . Valor de los Ahorros en Impuestos por Deuda en Colombia: Un Estudio Empírico (Value of Debt Tax Shields in Colombia: An Empirical Study)

The English version of this paper can be found at http://ssrn.com/abstract=1919305This paper estimates the value of tax savings, using the method of discounted cash flows for 23 major industrial firms in the Bolsa de Valores de Colombia (Colombian Stock Market) between 2001 and 2010, showing that this value represents on average between 5.74% and 56.73% out of total firm value depending on discount rate for tax savings. Using Data Panel regressions, it also finds that the average leverage of firms is low relative to other countries. Given this fact, we explored the behavior of the total value of the firm, VT and found no evidence that debt creates value.

Abstract Background HIV-1 CRF19_cpx, is a recombinant variant found almost exclusively in Cuba and recently associated to a faster AIDS onset. Infection with this variant leads to higher viral loads and levels of RANTES and CXCR4 co-receptor use. Objectives The goal of this study was to assess the presence of CRF19_cpx in the Spanish province of Valencia, given its high pathogenicity. Study design 1294 HIV-1 protease-reverse transcriptase (PR/RT) sequences were obtained in Valencia (Spain), between 2005 and 2014. Towards a multidisciplinary approach in creative subtitling

Standard subtitling practices have long been influenced, if not governed, by norms and conventions such as the Code of Good Subtitling Practice (Ivarsson & Carroll 1998). Yet recent research into film subtitling has begun to take a creative turn: a trend that is matched by increasing numbers of fansubs and professionally produced creative subtitles. This paper seeks to demonstrate the need for a multidisciplinary approach to creative subtitling and, by drawing upon principles from film studies, suggests some key features for the development of a creative subtitling practice.

This article provides a first concept of typographic identity in film and the impact of audiovisual translation on it. Based on an analysis of 52 films, relevant text elements and their graphical translation strategies in film were identified. Finally, possible shortcomings and challenges such as collisions and the impact on a film’s typographic identity and image composition are discussed as a first basis for further studies

Este trabajo forma parte de una investigación mixta multifase que explora el empleo de preguntas de comprensión audiovisual integradas en el vídeo en forma de subtítulos y sincronizadas con los fragmentos pertinentes para el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. El objetivo principal del artículo es comunicar el diseño y la fiabilidad test-retest de un cuestionario sobre la comprensión auditiva/audiovisual para estudiantes adultos de español como lengua extranjera que sería administrado en estudios posteriores.
