Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Li1.5Mn0.5As Alloys in the Cu2Sb Structure

2013

We investigated two formula-units of Li1.5Mn0.5As alloys, such as Li3MnAs2, in the Cu2Sb crystal structure using an ab-initio algorithm. By interchanging Mn with each Li located at different positions of the Li4As2unit cell, four separate alloys are formed. At the optimized lattice constant, two of these alloys are predicted to be ferromagnetic metals and the other two are half metals. The possibility of half metallicity in the first two is also explored. Both the modified Slater-Pauling-Kübler rule and the ionic model can characterize the magnetic moments of the half metals.

Novel isatin-derived molecules activate p53 via interference with Mdm2 to promote apoptosis

2018

International audience; The p53 protein is a key tumor suppressor in mammals. In response to various forms of genotoxic stress p53 stimulates expression of genes whose products induce cell cycle arrest and/or apoptosis. An E3-ubiquitin ligase, Mdm2 (mouse-double-minute 2) and its human ortholog Hdm2, physically interact with the amino-terminus of p53 to mediate its ubiquitin-mediated degradation via the proteasome. Thus, pharmacological inhibition of the p53-Mdm2 interaction leads to overall stabilization of p53 and stimulation of its anti-tumorigenic activity. In this study we characterize the biological effects of a novel class of non-genotoxic isatin Schiff and Mannich base derivatives (…

Progress towards innovative and energy efficient logic circuits

2020

Abstract The integration of superconductive nanowire logic memories and energy efficient computing Josephson logic is explored. Nanowire memories are based on the integration of switchable superconducting nanowires with a suitable magnetic material. These memories exploit the electro-thermal operation of the nanowires to efficiently store and read a magnetic state. In order to achieve proper memory operation a careful design of the nanowire assembly is necessary, as well as a proper choice of the magnetic material to be employed. At present several new superconducting logic families have been proposed, all tending to minimize the effect of losses in the digital Josephson circuits replacing …

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents, Part 20[1] Method for Testing Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories: The Modified Hen's Egg Chorioallantoic Membr…

1996

The delay of onset of irritation phenomena at the chorioallantoic membrane of incubated hen's eggs, a parameter for anti-inflammatory activity, was determined for the pharmaceutical substances diclofenac, flufenamic acid, ibuprofen, indomethacin, ketoprofen, piroxicam, phenylbutazone, salicylic acid, and sodium salicylate. Alongside questions relating to the dose-effect ratio, metabolisation, recovery, and diffusion of the substances to their site of action were investigated. The reproducibility of the procedure and its selectivity with regard to substances with a different mechanism of action is proven. The method allows classification of the substances according to their anti-inflammatory…

An AHP-based approach to PMISs assessment

2015

The project management environment gets complex and subject to uncertainty. The firm's managers need of tools supporting the decision–making process in order to properly manage project information. PMISs provide features facilitating the project management. The variety of software and the ambiguity of features meaning make the choice of the PMIS a difficult task. The literature analysis confirms the importance of user engagement in features and PMIS assessment and the lack of methodologies satisfying such a task. The paper focuses on the classification and assessment of features of PMIS considering the firm's needs. A case study is presented for the evaluation of a PMISs sample.

Customer Relationships Management in Organizations

2013

Abstract In recent years, the market for on-demand CRM applications suffered especially in the segment of small and medium companies because of the concerns about the cost and the complexity of on request implementations. CRM on demand is a good choice for companies that want to implement standard processes that can use data structures “out of box” with little or not at all internal IT support and does not require complex or real-time integration with back office systems. However, on-demand CRM software is not always as simple as vendors want us to believe. Customizing can be problematic and interface tools of CRM vendors can not provide desired levels of integration. Implementing a hosted …

Spin dynamics in the single-ion magnet [Er(W5O18)2]9−

2018

In this work we present a detailed NMR and ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}\mathrm{SR}$ investigation of the spin dynamics in the new hydrated sodium salt containing the single-ion magnet ${[\mathrm{Er}{({\mathrm{W}}_{5}{\mathrm{O}}_{18})}_{2}]}^{9\ensuremath{-}}$. The $^{1}\mathrm{H}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{NMR}$ absorption spectra at various applied magnetic fields present a line broadening on decreasing temperature which indicates a progressive spin freezing of the single-molecule magnetic moments. The onset of quasistatic local magnetic fields, due to spin freezing, is observed also in the muon relaxation curves at low temperature. Both techniques yield a local field distribution of t…

Measurement of the g Factor of the Bound Electron in Hydrogen-like Oxygen 16O7+

2003

The measurement of the g factor of the electron bound in a hydrogen-like ion is a high- accuracy test of the theory of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) in strong fields. Here we report on the measurement of the g factor of the bound electron in hydrogen-like oxygen 16O7+. In our experiment a single 16O7+ ion is stored in a Penning trap. Quantum jumps between the two spin states (spin up and spin down) are induced by a microwave field at the spin precession frequency of the bound electron. The g factor of the bound electron is obtained by varying the microwave frequency and counting the number of spin flips. Our experimental value for the g factor of the bound electron is gexp(16O7+) = 2.000 04…

A new small mammal assemblage from the M013 Terre Rosse fissure filling (Gargano, South-Eastern Italy)

2013

Abstract The taxonomic study of the small mammal assemblage from fissure M013, sampled by a team of the University of Torino during the 2005–2009 excavations in the Dell’Erba Quarry (Apricena, Foggia) is presented. The assemblage includes the Echinosoricinae Apulogalerix cf. pusillus and the Crocidosoricinae ?Lartetium cf. dehmi; the Myomiminae species Stertomys simplex and Stertomys lyrifer; a new genus and species of Cricetodontinae and a single specimen of Hattomys cf. nazarii. Muridae include Mikrotia cf. parva, Mikrotia sp. 1 and a new genus and species of Murinae, phylogenetically related to Mikrotia. The occurrence of the new Murinae, the new Cricetodontinae, the two species of gliri…
