Le pietre della memoria. Dimensione autobiografica e dimensione immemoriale in Roger Caillois

2009

Origin, age, and significance of deep-seated granulite-facies migmatites in the Barrow zones of Scotland, Cairn Leuchan, Glen Muick area

2018

Funding for this work was provided by the Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz. Petrological modelling of granulite‐facies mafic and semipelitic migmatites from Cairn Leuchan, northeast Scotland, has provided new constraints on the pressure (P) and temperature (T) conditions of high‐grade metamorphism in the type‐locality Barrow zones.Phase diagrams constructed in the Na2O–CaO–K2O–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2O–TiO2–O2 system have constrained the P–T conditions of peak metamorphism in the Glen Muick region of the upper‐sillimanite zone (Sill+Kfs) to have been at least ~840 ◦C at ~9 kbar (high‐pressure granulite facies). These conditions are approximately ~120 ◦C and ~3 kbar higher than those reco…

The role of industry influence in sinus balloon dilation: Trends over time

2018

OBJECTIVE Balloon dilation (BD) is a controversial alternative to conventional sinus surgery. The role of industry on practice patterns remains unknown. The aim of this study was to determine whether industry payments from BD manufacturers influence practice patterns for otolaryngologists and evaluate how these payments change over time. METHODS Retrospective cohort study using Medicare Provider Utilization and Payment (PUP) Data and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Open Payments (OP) general payment datasets. A total of 294 otolaryngologists identified in the PUP dataset who performed BD procedures from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2015, were cross-referenced in the OP dataset…

The climate change effect on the african monsoon region : evolution of the precipitation and atmospheric fields in the CMIP3 and CMIP5 simulations un…

2013

The fourth IPCC report in 2007 established the synthesis of previously published work onthe effects of climate change on global and regional scales. It shows in particular that no consensuscan be found with regard to the future of rainfall — and atmospheric dynamics- associatedwith region — African monsoon. This dissertation revisits this issue in the light of new dataand using an approach avoiding over-representation of the number of simulations available forone type of model and taking into account the diversity of models and their evolution in time :twenty general circulation models (GCMs) participating in the exercises CMIP3 (twelve GCMs)and CMIP5 (eight GCMs) under the A1B emissions sc…

Spectrophotometric determination of chlorhexidine with bromocresol green by flow-injection and manual methods

1986

Abstract A spectrophotometric study of the chlorhexidine/bromocresol green/Triton X-100 system is reported; at pH 5.3, both 2:1 and 1:1 bromocresol green/chlorhexidine complexes are formed. In the manual spectrophotometric method, Beer's law is obeyed for chlorhexidine concentrations of 2.9–32.2 μg ml −1 (r.s.d. 0.4–1.3%); the molar absorptivity is 12 500 l mol −1 cm −1 . In the flow-injection method, the calibration graph is linear for the chlorhexidine range 23.0–83.9 μg ml −1 (r.s.d. 0.8%); the injection is ca. 60 h −1 . Benzocaine, acetylsalicylic acid, ascorbic acid and sucrose are tolerated at 10 −2 −10 −3 M levels. Hibitane 5% was analyzed successfully.

Analysis of pharmaceutical preparations containing local anesthetics by micellar liquid chromatography and spectrophotometric detection

1999

An HPLC procedure for the determination of six local anesthetics, bupivacaine, lidocaine, mepivacaine, procaine, propanocaine and tetracaine, in pharmaceutical silane ODS-2 C18 analytical column and spectrophotometric detection at 230 nm were used. The chromatographic tographic behaviour of local anesthetics with different micellar eluents of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) is described. Selection of the adequate composition of the micellar mobile phase (SDS and 1-propanol concentrations) for the analysis of pharmaceuticals was studied. Adequate retention was achieved with an eluent containing 0.15 M SDS +10% 1-propanol at pH 3. Application of the proposed method to the analysis of eight phar…

Molecularly imprinted polymer-based device for field collection of oral fluid samples for cocaine identification.

2020

In this paper, a low-cost, rapid, easy, and potentially portable tool for the identification of cocaine and its semi-quantitative determination in oral fluid has been proposed. A field collection device has been designed, based on a cotton pad with an indicator and a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) sorbent, to selective retain cocaine from oral fluid components. After sample collection, cocaine is transferred by using phosphate buffer to the MIP and then eluted with 2-propanol. The obtained extract is analysed by ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), providing a cut-off value of 20 µg L-1 that identifies 100 % true-positive and 95 % true-negative samples. The MIP-IMS procedure has been valid…
