Polyamide/carbonaceous particles nanocomposites fibers: Morphology and performances

In this work, the influence of carbonaceous particles with different sizes and shapes on the morphology and mechanical performances of polyamide (PA)-based fibers was investigated. Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) are compared with spherical and rod-like carbon fillers such as carbon black (CB) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The increments of the complex viscosity as well as elastic and loss moduli, in the melt state, assessed by rheological analysis, are reduced by modifying polyamide (PA) matrix with nanofillers in a following order: CNTs > GNP > CB. Quantitative optical analysis of filler dispersion degree in MWCNT-epoxy nanocomposite

Recently developed methodology of quantitative analysis based on optical analysis of filler particles' area distributions is applied now to estimate the dispersion efficiency of multiwall carbon nanotubes in nanocomposite prepared by solution intercalation method. Experimental parameters of dispersing (temperature, duration and power level of ultrasonication) were optimized and the most effective experimental procedure was determined. The methodology of determination of dispersion parameter is proved by indirect method of light transmittance experiments. A series of octakis(alkyloxy)-substituted Zn(II)-phthalocyanines were efficiently incorporated into an organogel made of (1R,2R)-trans-1,2-bis(dodecanoylamino)cyclohexane by means of multiple cooperative non-covalent interactions, and SEM revealed the formation of unique brush-like nanostructures.
Nanostructured medical sutures with antibacterial properties

Bacterial repellence in suture materials is a desirable property that can potentially improve the healing process by preventing infection. We describe a method for generating nanostructures at the surface of commercial sutures of different composition, and their potential for preventing biofilm formation. We show how bacteria attachment is altered in the presence of nanosized topographies and identify optimum designs for preventing it without compromising biocompatibility and applicability in terms of nanostructure robustness or tissue friction. However, prolonged inflammation, which can be induced by metallic corrosion products, can lead to aseptic loosening and implant failure. NiAl 2 O 4 spinel-mullite composites were prepared by simultaneous replacement of Al by Ti and/or Ni in 3:2 stoichiometric mullite. Specimens having nominal compositions 3(Al 2-2x Ni x Ti x O 3 ).2SiO 2 (x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.2) and 3(Al 2-x M x O 3) .2SiO 2 (M = Ni 2+ or Ti 4+ and x = 0.05) were synthesized by sol-gel techniques, which provide homogeneous gels in the SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 system. A direct electroorganic sequence yielding nitriles from oximes in undivided cells is reported. Despite the fact that intermediate nitrile oxides might be formed, the method is viable to prepare benzonitriles without substituents ortho to the aldoxime moiety. This constant current method is easy to perform for a broad scope of substrates and employs common electrodes, such as graphite and lead.

The chemical modification and bioconjugation processes inside confined geometries by His-tagged silicatein promote sensitive changes in the polarity and surface charge density that mainly contribute to the ionic current rectification properties of the single conical nanopores.
