Chromium speciation in liquid matrices: a survey of the literature

2000

A thorough review of the literature published (1983 - March 1999) on chromium speciation in liquid samples is presented, and analytical techniques used in the 404 articles are summarized. The discussion focuses on atomic spectrometric techniques, which are mainly employed for chromium speciation in liquid matrices (134 articles). Details on the type of pretreatment, species, samples, techniques and analytical features of the methodologies proposed are given.

Exchange coupling across the cyanide bridge: structural and DFT interpretation of the magnetic properties of a binuclear chromium(III) complex.

2006

The reaction of [Cr(CN)6]3− with a mixture of trans-[Cr(cyclam)(OH)2]Cl, [Cr(cyclam)(OH)Cl]Cl and [Cr(cyclam)Cl2]Cl affords the cyanide bridged dimer, trans-[HO–Cr(cyclam)–NC–Cr(CN)5]−. The tetraphenylphosphonium salt of the anion crystallizes in space group P21/n and shows a bent arrangement of the Cr1–CN–Cr2 unit with the Cr1–CN bond angle at 166.9° and CN–Cr2 at 160.32°. The Cr2–O bond, trans to the hexacyanide fragment, is very short at 1.902 A. Two dimers are held together by two hydrogen bonds connecting the Cr2–OH group of each dimer with one of the NH groups of the cyclam ligand of an adjacent molecule, leading to an almost linear configuration. These dimers of dimers get packed par…

Toxicity of binary mixtures of Cu, Cr and As to the earthworm Eisenia andrei

2020

AbstractChromated copper arsenate (CCA) mixtures were used in the past for wood preservation, leading to large scale soil contamination. This study aimed at contributing to the risk assessment of CCA-contaminated soils by assessing the toxicity of binary mixtures of copper, chromium and arsenic to the earthworm Eisenia andrei in OECD artificial soil. Mixture effects were related to reference models of Concentration Addition (CA) and Independent Action (IA) using the MIXTOX model, with effects being related to total and available (H2O and 0.01 M CaCl2 extractable) concentrations in the soil. Since only in mixtures with arsenic dose-related mortality occurred (LC50 92.5 mg/kg dry soil), it wa…

Tantalocene complexes as bidentate métalloligands: (C5Me5)(C5H4X)Ta(H2)(PPh2) (C5Me5) (C5H4X)Ta(CO) (PPh2) (X = PPh2, CH2CH2NMe2)

1999

Abstract The synthesis of new bidentate metalloligands derived from tantalocene (C5Me5)(C5H4X)Ta(H2)(PPh2) (X = PPh2, 2P; X = CH2CH2NMe22N) and (C5Me5)(C5H4X)Ta(CO)(PPh2) 4(P,N) is described. When opposed to chromium unsaturated fragments the phosphino functionalised complexes 2P and 4P act as chelating bidentate ligands affording Ta(V) (C5Me5)(C5H4PPh2)Ta(CH2) (μ-PPh2)Cr(CO)4 or Ta(III) (C5Me5)(C5H4PPh2)Ta(CO)(μ-PPh2)Cr(CO)4 bimetallic complexes. The same reaction carried out starting from 2N gives rise to a μ-phosphido, μ-hydrido dibridged complex Cp*(C5H4CH2CH2NMe2)TaH(μ-H)(μ-PPh2)Cr(CO)4.
