Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek pētīts PSRS un nacistiskās Vācijas totalitāro režīmu simbolikas izmantošanas regulējums Latvijas Republikā. Darba teorētisko daļu veido dažādu autoru darbi par politisko simbolu nozīmēm politiskajā režīmā, kā arī par simbolu nozīmi organizāciju teorijā. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kā veidojies normatīvais regulējums, kas regulē PSRS un nacistiskās Vācijas totalitāro režīmu simbolu izmantošanu. Lai to darītu, tiks pētīti normatīvie akti, kas sevī ietver totalitāro režīmu simbolikas izmantošanas regulējumu, kā arī šo normatīvo aktu pieņemšanas process.

The author presents the preliminary considerations related to a planned study the purpose of which is to reconstruct the history of the Polish translation of Der Zauberberg (The Magic Mountain) by Thomas Mann and examine its impact on the Polish reception of the work. Aptuveni puse latviešu valodā izdotās daiļliteratūras ir tulkota no svešvalodām. Literāru tekstu tulkošanai ir būtiska ietekme uz valodas kvalitāti un daudzveidību. Šajā pētījumā tiek analizēti trīs veidu mākslinieciskie izteiksmes līdzekļi (metaforas, salīdzinājumi un hiperbolas) ar mērķi noskaidrot Patrika Rotfusa populārā darba Vēja vārds nesenajā angļu – latviešu tulkojumā izmantotās metodes un tulkojuma kvalitāti. Pētījumā iekļauts teorijas apskats, kas aptver bieži sastopamas tulkošanas stratēģijas, literārās tulkošanas specifiku un viedokļu apkopojumu par metaforu, salīdzinājumu un hiperbolu raksturu un tulkojamību. Is personality related to permanent earnings? Evidence using a twin design

Using twin survey combined with register-based panel data on labor market outcomes, the authors examine the association between personality characteristics and long-term earnings among prime working-age individuals. The long-term earnings were measured over the 1990–2008 period. The sample contains 4,642 twin pairs, of which 53% are females. In contrast to previous studies, this paper uses the within-twin dimension of the data to control for shared family background and confounding genetic factors.
