A hardware skin-segmentation IP for vision based smart ADAS through an FPGA prototyping

2017

International audience; In this paper we presents a platform based design approach for fast HW/SW embedded smart Advanced Driver Assistant System (ADAS) design and prototyping. Then, we share our experience in designing and prototyping a HW/SW vision based smart embedded system as an ADAS that helps to increase the safety of car's drivers. We present a physical prototype of the vision ADAS based on a Zynq FPGA. The system detects the fatigue state of the driver by monitoring the eyes closure and generates a real-time alert. A new HW/SW codesign skin segmentation step to locate the eyes/face is proposed. Our presented new approach migrates the skin segmentation step from processing system (S…

Redox Biochemistry of the Genetic Code.

2021

New findings on the chemistry of the amino acids, their role in protein folding, and their sequential primordial introduction have uncovered concealed causalities in genetic code evolution. The genetically encoded amino acids successively provided (i) membrane anchors, (ii) halophilic protein folds, (iii) mesophilic protein folds, (iv) metal ligation, and (v) antioxidation.

Retrovirus infection and aging: Increase in UAG suppressor tRNA expression in aged mice.

1994

Summary The effect of aging on expression of a natural glutamine suppressor tRNA (tRNA Gln(UmUG) ) was studied in different tissues of mice; this tRNA recognizes UAG and inserts glutamine at the site of the termination codon. The level of tRNA Gln(UmUG) was found to be strongly increased in aged mice, compared to newborn and mature animals. An elevated expression of tRNA Gln(UmUG) has also been found in retrovirus-infected cells; in Moloney virus-infected cells the suppressor tRNA allows to read-through the UAG codon within the retroviral protease gene. We suggest that the increase in the level of tRNA Gln(UmUG) may influence retroviral gene expression with age.

Sequence of a new tRNALeu(U∗AA) from brewer's yeast

1991

The nucleotide sequence of a new tRNA(Leu)(anticodon U*AA) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae which could recognize exclusively the UUA codon has been determined. Its primary structure is: pGGAGGGUUGm2GCac4CGAGDGmGDCDAAGGCm2(2)GGCAGACmUU*AAm1GA++ + psi CUGUUGGACGGUUGUCCGm5CGCGAGT psi CGm1A(orA)ACCUCGCAUCCUUCACCA. This tRNA has a large extraloop and contains 15 modified nucleotides. So far it is the third isoacceptor tRNA for leucine in yeast. It has 61% homology with tRNA(Leu)(anticodon m5CAA) and 63% homology with tRNA(Leu)(anticodon UAG), the two other known yeast tRNAs(Leu).

Syntrophy of Crypthecodinium cohnii and immobilized Zymomonas mobilis for docosahexaenoic acid production from sucrose-containing substrates

2021

Marine heterotrophic dinoflagellate Crypthecodinium cohnii is an aerobic oleaginous microorganism that accumulates intracellular lipid with high content of 4,7,10,13,16,19-docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), a polyunsaturated ω-3 (22:6) fatty acid with multiple health benefits. C. cohnii can grow on glucose and ethanol, but not on sucrose or fructose. For conversion of sucrose-containing renewables to C. cohnii DHA, we investigated a syntrophic process, involving immobilized cells of ethanologenic bacterium Zymomonas mobilis for fermenting sucrose to ethanol. The non-respiring, NADH dehydrogenase-deficient Z. mobilis strain Zm6-ndh, with high ethanol yield both under anaerobic and aerobic condition…

A fast algorithm for the exhaustive analysis of 12-nucleotide-long DNA sequences. Applications to human genomics

2004

We have developed a new algorithm that allows the exhaustive determination of words of up to 12 nucleotides in DNA sequences. It is fast enough as to be used at a genomic scale running on a standard personal computer. As an example, we apply the algorithm to compare the number of all 12-nucleotide long words in human chromosomes 21 and 22, each of them more than 33 million nucleotides long. Sequences that are chromosome specific are detected in less than 2 minutes, being analyzed any pair of chromosomes at a rate of 45 millions of nucleotides (45 Mb) per minute. The size of the words is long enough as to allow further analyses of all significant sequences using conventional database searche…
