Intellectual Structure of the Belt and Road Initiative Research: A Scientometric Analysis and Suggestions for a Future Research Agenda

China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has attracted increasing attention worldwide since its inception in 2013. Although the research is fast increasing in terms of publications, there is a lack of knowledge about the intellectual structure, research trends, and appropriate theories underpinning. Using bibliometric data from 1583 articles from 2013 to 2019 in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, we used bibliometric techniques and scientometric analyses to identify and analyze the intellectual structure, hotspots, and emerging trends in this field. Classical and quantum aspects of electric-magnetic duality rotations in curved spacetimes

It is well known that the source-free Maxwell equations are invariant under electric-magnetic duality rotations, $\mathrm{F}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{F}\mathrm{cos}\ensuremath{\theta}+^{\ensuremath{\star}}\mathrm{F}\mathrm{sin}\ensuremath{\theta}$. These transformations are indeed a symmetry of the theory in the Noether sense. The associated constant of motion is the difference in the intensity between self-dual and anti-self-dual components of the electromagnetic field or, equivalently, the difference between the right and left circularly polarized components. This conservation law holds even if the electromagnetic field interacts with an arbitrary classical gravitational background.…

Process-independent strong running coupling

We unify two widely different approaches to understanding the infrared behaviour of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), one essentially phenomenological, based on data, and the other computational, realised via quantum field equations in the continuum theory. Using the latter, we explain and calculate a process-independent running-coupling for QCD, a new type of effective charge that is an analogue of the Gell-Mann--Low effective coupling in quantum electrodynamics. The result is almost identical to the process-dependent effective charge defined via the Bjorken sum rule, which provides one of the most basic constraints on our knowledge of nucleon spin structure. AbstractChlorophyll (Chl) molecules attached to plant light-harvesting complexes (LHC) differ in their spectral behavior. While most Chl a and Chl b molecules give rise to absorption bands between 645 nm and 670 nm, some special Chls absorb at wavelengths longer than 700 nm. Among the Chl a/b-antennae of higher plants these are found exclusively in LHC I. In order to assign this special spectral property to one chlorophyll species we reconstituted LHC of both photosystem I (Lhca4) and photosystem II (Lhcb1) with carotenoids and only Chl a or Chl b and analyzed the effect on pigment binding, absorption and fluorescence properties. Shortly after giving his talk in autumn 1934 at the International Conference on Physics in London, Huckel sought to introduce the results of his research on unsaturated and aromatic compounds elsewhere in Europe. On April 30, 1935 Huckel delivered a talk in French before the Societe de Physique in Paris. The title he chose was: “Aromatic and unsaturated compounds. Theoretical inquiry into their constitution and properties.”Describing his own efforts as clearly as he could, he also discussed his points of criticism against Pauling’s theoretical and mathematical approach. The Cathedral of Palermo was built by the Norman Kings, in the place where a mosque had been erected by the muslim governors of Sicily. The church has many features recalling the norman churches in northern France and in England, whilst some others are due to the contamination of norman, muslim and byzantine culture, that is peculiar of the so-called “arab-norman” architecture of medieval Sicily. Volatile constituents of the aerial parts of white salsify (Tragopogon porrifolius L., Asteraceae).

Tragopogon porrifolius L. grows as a vegetable in southern Italy and all parts of it are edible. In the present study the volatile components of the aerial part are described. Gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed the presence of 38 components in all. On the whole, the volatile fraction was constituted mainly by carbonylic compounds (24.6%), phenols (21.5%) and fatty acids and esters (19.7%). The most abundant compounds were 4-vinyl guaiacol (19.0%), hexadecanoic acid (17.9%), hexahydrofarnesylacetone (15.8%) and hentriacontane (10.7%).

Volumes and compressibilities of pentanol in aqueous dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide solutions at 15, 25 and 35°C

Ultrasonic velocities and densities of the water-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)-pentanol (PentOH) ternary system were measured at 15, 25 and 35°C as a function of the surfactant and alcohol concentrations. The apparent molar volumes and isentropic compressibilities of PentOH were calculated. The standard partial molar volumes increase with surfactant concentration continuously whereas the standard partial molar isentropic compressibilities show sharp changes in slope at about 0.25 mol-kg−1 DTAB, which can be ascribed to a micellar structural transition. Nonenzymatic glycation reaction of folate with reducing sugars: A case study on [6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolate and fructose

In the Maillard reaction, free amino groups react with reducing sugars to form nonenzymatic glycation products. It has recently been shown that in the presence of reducing sugars (i.e. fructose) folic acid is subjected to a non-enzymatic glycation reaction, which may represent an important pathway of folate degradation besides the established oxidative degradation pathways. Study of the effect of the membrane composition on ion transfer across a supported liquid membrane

Abstract The rate of ion transfer across the supported liquid membrane (SLM) is studied in the rotating diffusion cell (RDC), varying the chemical composition of the SLM from net-cloth supported gel membranes to radiation-grafted polymer membranes. Steady-state current–voltage curves are measured as a function of the rotation rate, and values for the standard rate constant, k 0 , are determined for a series of tetraalkylammonium cations from the analysis of the initial slopes and the diffusion limiting currents.
