Zur kinetik der anionischen polymerisation von methyl-methyacrylat in tetrahydrofuran bei −75°C

Die anionische Polymerisation von Methylmethacrylat (MMA) in Tetrahydrofuran (THF) verlauft bei −75°C mit Cumylcasium bzw. oligomerem α-Methylstyrylcasium als Initiatoren ohne erkennbare Nebenreaktionen analog der anionischen Polymerisation von unpolaren Monomeren in atherischen Losungsmitteln. Als Beweis wird hauptsachlich die enge Molekulargewichtsverteilung der unter diesen Bedingungen hergestellten Polymethylmethacrylate angefuhrt. Bei −75°C betragen die Geschwindigkeitskonstanten fur die Monomeranlagerung an das Ionenpaar kw(±) = 80 dm3 mol−1 s−1 und an das freie Anion etwa kw(−) ≈ 6 · 104 dm3 mol−1 s−1. Results of a literature review on methods for estimating buildings energy demand at district level

Abstract In the framework of distributed energy planning, evaluating reliable energy profiles of different sectors has a prominent role. At the same time, it is a quite challenging task, since the availability of actual energy profiles of buildings at the district level is not widespread. Targeted steel frames by means of innovative moment resisting connections

Abstract The present paper proposes the use of stepped cross section devices on steel frames aiming at reproducing a pre-established target push-over curve. To this aim a Limited Resistance Plastic Device (LRPD) to be inserted along selected structural members is proposed. The following two main specific features for LRPD are required: any elastic flexural stiffness variation of the original selected member must be avoided; an ultimate plastic bending moment value equal to an assigned percentage of the original limit resistance value must be ensured. Abstract Recent migration towards Europe is characterized by the massive presence of adults whose educational paths have been interrupted and who are thus developing literacy for the first time in a new language. A literacy test elaborated at the University of Palermo, Italy, showed that, on a sample of 774 migrants, about 30 percent could not read and/or write short words. This test assessed the learners’ abilities to read and write, whether in the Roman alphabet or in other writing systems, and whether in Italian or in other languages of learners’ repertoires. Up and Down States During Slow Oscillations in Slow-Wave Sleep and Different Levels of Anesthesia

Slow oscillations are a pattern of synchronized network activity generated by the cerebral cortex. They consist of Up and Down states, which are periods of activity interspersed with periods of silence, respectively. However, even when this is a unique dynamic regime of transitions between Up and Down states, this pattern is not constant: there is a range of oscillatory frequencies (0.1–4 Hz), and the duration of Up vs. Down states during the cycles is variable.
