Chemical constituents from Phlomis bovei Noë and their chemotaxonomic significance

2020

Abstract A phytochemical investigation of the leaves and roots of Phlomis bovei Noe (Lamiaceae) led to the isolation of sixteen compounds, including iridoids (1, 2, 3), megastigmanes (4, 5), phenylpropanoids (6, 7, 8, 9, 10), lignans (11, 12, 13, 14), a nortriterpene (15), and a phenyl glucoside (16). Compounds (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10) were obtained from the leaves and compounds (1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) were isolated from the roots. Compounds 1 and 2 were found both in the leaves and in roots. The compounds were identified by analysis of 1D- (1H, 13C), 2D-NMR (1H–1H COSY, TOCSY, ROESY, HSQC, HMBC) spectroscopic data, mass spectrometry (ESI- and HR-ESI-MS), and by comparison wit…

Abstract Objectives To examine how gender functions in the narrative construction of dual career styles, and how these styles impact the (dis)continuation of a dual career pathway. Design Longitudinal qualitative study. Method Life story interviews with 18 talented Finnish athletes (10 cis women, 8 cis men) at four points in time – when they averaged 16, 17, 19, and 20 years of age – followed by an integrative narrative-discursive analysis. Results (a) contrapuntal style was gender-typically female; (b) monophonic style was gender-typically male; and (c) dissonant style was an important pathway to dual career discontinuation through which gender ideologies impacted the emergent adults with …

4,47 · 10−7 cm2·sec−1. Daraus ergeben sich die Molekulargewichte 138 000 bzw. 192000 und die Re…

Thermal Degradation of Green Asparagus Texture

2019

A cutting cell was developed to evaluate the texture of green asparagus by measuring its resistance to being cut with a wire. The cell was used in conjunction with a universal texturometer and improved on the single-point method of the Wilder fibrometer. Experimental conditions were determined for using the cell to measure the cutting resistance of asparagus subjected to different extents of heat treatment. Better discrimination between samples was obtained than with a Kramer cell. The fresh asparagus spears. were heated at temperatures between 70 and 100°C for different lengths of time and the kinetics of the degradation of texture was studied. A biphasic (two-component) behavior was obser…

Modeling for the active site nitrate reductase. Oxidation of the complex [MovO(O2CC(S) CH3Ph)2]− by nitrate and nitrite in methanol

1998

Abstract Under acid conditions the [MoVIO2(O2CC(S)CH1Ph)2]2 reacts with thiols to yield the monomeric [MoVO(O2CC(S)CH3Ph)2] and disulfide. The reduced complex [MoVO(O2CC(S)CH3Ph)2]− can react with NO3− and NO2− in a one-electron step yeilding respectively NO2 and NO and the original molybdenum (VI)-dioxo complex. The experimental pseudo-first-order rate constant with respect to the Mo(V) complex at 25°C was found to be kobs=2.3×10−4s−1 for NO3− and kobs=1.0×10−2 for NO2−. Oxo transfers to and from the substrate have been coupled to produce a catalytic system which turns over the reaction RSH+(No3− or NO2−)+H+a 1 2 [ RS ] 2 +( NO ] 2 or NO )+ H 2 O , in which thiols, NO1− and NO2− serve as a…

La rajola a la costa i els residus a l’interior. Mapa dels conflictes socioecològics al País Valencià

2020

EnglishIn the last decade, the Valencian Country has experimented a growth of the productive processes that has led to an unprecedented degradation of the territory. At the same time, the increase in the ecological, material and carbon footprint has led to the generation of socio-ecological conflicts. A typology of socio-ecological conflicts is proposed, consisting of 5 categories —derived from urban processes, infrastructures, pollution and public health, the extraction of mineral resources and the use of water resources—, which classifies and places them on the 'map of the socio-ecological conflicts of the Valencia Country'. The map locates such environmental conflicts. Furthermore, the u…

Economic and Environmental Assessment of Biomass Power Plants in Southern Italy

2022

In 2019, Europe adopted the New Green Deal as a strategic plan to become a competitive, resource-efficient, and driven economy by reducing its gas emissions and carbon footprint. Due the COVID-19 pandemic, this strategic plan was recently updated to expedite the green transition of European industries. Therefore, the present paper deals with the problem of deciding an appropriate size for a biomass plant that directly produces electric energy by means of two different conversion processes: combustion and gasification. After an initial estimation of the energy potential in western Sicily, GIS data of biomass growth were used to identify the appropriate size for the power plants under investi…

Psychobiosocial Experiences in Sport : Development and Initial Validation of a Semantic Differential Scale

2021

Abstract Objectives To develop and validate the Psychobiosocial Experience Semantic Differential scale in sport (PESD-Sport), a new measure to assess discrete emotions and performance-related experiences in sport as conceptualized within the individual zones of optimal functioning (IZOF; Hanin, 2000, 2007, 2010) framework. Method In Study 1, we developed a preliminary 53-item version of the scale using a semantic differential format in the construction of the items pertaining to 12 psychobiosocial modalities. We chose this format to attain a clear representation of psychobiosocial states between opposites along perceived performance functionality (i.e., functional, dysfunctional). The preli…

The Donation Act of Hagi Constantin Pop’s Family for the Annunciation Church in Sibiu

2020

This article presents an important document relating to the history of an Orthodox church in Sibiu (Biserica din Groapă), whose construction was possible due to the support provided by the family of the wealthy Macedonian-Romanian merchant Hagi Constantin Pop, at the beginning of the nineteenth century. After a thorough description of the document, we will provide both the German transcription and the English translation of the text. The notes and comments that accompany the document are meant to shed light upon the historical context in which the church was raised and to emphasize the importance of the document, which is the oldest one preserved in the archives of the Annunciation Church. …
