Efficient photovoltaic and electroluminescent perovskite devices.

Planar diode structures employing hybrid organic–inorganic methylammonium lead iodide perovskites lead to multifunctional devices exhibiting both a high photovoltaic efficiency and good electroluminescence. The electroluminescence strongly improves at higher current density applied using a pulsed driving method.

Thermo- and light responsive micellation of azobenzene containing block copolymers

In this communication, the synthesis and characterization of thermo- and light responsive block copolymers is reported. PEO-b-PNIPAM polymers with azobenzene moieties were prepared and analyzed by turbidimetry, fluorescence, NMR and DLS measurements. A temperature controlled reversible formation as well as a light induced disruption and reformation of micellar structures in water was found.

P-chirogenic organocatalysts: application to the aza-Morita–Baylis–Hillman (aza-MBH) reaction of ketimines

The P-chirogenic organocatalysts were found to promote the enantioselective aza-Morita-Baylis-Hillman reaction of ketimines derived from acyclic α-keto esters. In the P-chirogenic organocatalyzed aza-MBH reactions, α,α-disubstituted α-amino acid derivatives were obtained in high yields with high enantioselectivities (up to 97% ee).

1,3-Dimethylimidazolium-2-carboxylate is formed in good yield, rather than the anticipated organic salt, 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methyl carbonate, as the reaction product resulting from both N-alkylation and C-carboxylation of 1-methylimidazole with dimethyl carbonate; the crystal structure of the zwitterion exhibits π-stacked rings and two-dimensional sheets constructed by hydrogen-bonds from imidazolium-ring hydrogens to the carboxylate group.

The uptake of N-(2-hydroxypropyl)-methacrylamide based homo, random and block copolymers by human multi-drug resistant breast adenocarcinoma cells

A series of well-defined, fluorescently labelled homopolymers, random and block copolymers based on N-(2-hydroxypropyl)-methacrylamide were prepared by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (RAFT polymerization). The polydispersity indexes for all polymers were in the range of 1.2–1.3 and the number average of the molar mass (Mn) for each polymer was set to be in the range of 15–30 kDa. The cellular uptake of these polymers was investigated in the human multi-drug resistant breast adenocarcinoma cell line MCF7/ADR. In orthopedic research, increasing attention is being paid to bioresorbable composite materials as an attractive alternative to permanent metal bone healing devices. The synergy between the CsPbBr3 nanoparticle surface and the organic ligand becomes manifest in a demanding carbon–carbon coupling reaction

Spin-crossover iron(ii) complex showing thermal hysteresis around room temperature with symmetry breaking and an unusually high T(LIESST) of 120 K.

We report a Fe(II) complex based on 4′,4′′ carboxylic acid disubstituted dipyrazolylpyridine that shows a spin-crossover close to room temperature associated to a crystallographic phase transition and the LIESST effect with a high T(LIESST) of 120 K.
