Sample Preparation Improvement in Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Determination in Olive Oils by Gel Permeation Chromatography and Liquid Chromatogr…

2005

Abstract The determination of 15 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in olive oil samples has been improved in order to obtain a fast methodology with a low limit of detection through the combination of liquid–liquid extraction with acetonitrile and preparative gel permeation chromatography (GPC) prior to the injection of purified extracts into a C18 column. Acetonitrile–water was used as the mobile phase with a gradient from 50 to 95%, w/w, acetonitrile in 30 min. The oven temperature was maintained at 15°C, and fluorometric detection was made at a fixed excitation wavelength of 264 nm and variable, optimal emission wavelength for each analyte ranging from 352 nm for 11-H-benzo(b)fluor…

The influence of lithium tert-butoxide (tBuOLi) and of lithium chloride on the oligomerization of tert-butyl acrylate (tBuA) initiated by tert-butyl α-lithioisobutyrate (tBiB-Li) was investigated. These additives affect both the kinetics and the product distribution. Whereas the addition of LiCl leads to a narrower molecular-weight distribution (MWD) the presence of tBuOLi induces broader MWD's, characterized by a very high fraction of the dimer. Both additives decrease the rates of propagation to different degrees. These effects are discussed on the basis of the formation of aggregates and adducts, the lithiated dimer having a higher tendency to form aggregates than the other oligomers. Th…

Pressure-Stabilized Solvates of Xylazine Hydrochloride

2016

High pressure strongly favors the highest-density polymorph Z of active pharmaceutical ingredient 2-(2,6-xylidino)-5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-thiazine hydrochloride (xylazine hydrochloride, XylHCl) up to about 0.1 GPa only, but still higher pressure destabilizes this structure. Above 0.1 GPa, XylHCl preferentially crystallizes as solvates with CH2Cl2, CHCl3, or (CH3)2CHOH depending on the solvent used. However, when XylHCl·H2O is dissolved in any of these solvents, the high-pressure crystallizations yield the hydrate XylHCl·H2O only. The single crystals of the CH2Cl2, CHCl3, and (CH3)2CHOH solvates could be grown in situ in a diamond anvil cell, which allowed their structure determination from the …

Modeling S-carboxymethyl-L-cysteine protonation and activity coefficients in sodium and tetramethylammonium chloride aqueous solutions by SIT and Pit…

2007

Solubility and acid–base properties of S-carboxymethyl-l-cysteine (carbocysteine, ccys) in NaClaq and tetramethylammonium chloride, (CH3)4NClaq ,a tt =2 5 ◦ C and at different ionic strengths were investigated. Solubility was studied at 1.0 ≤ I (mol L −1 ) ≤ 5.0 for NaClaq and 1.0 ≤ I (mol L −1 ) ≤ 3.0 for (CH3)4NClaq, while potentiometric measurements (by ISE-H + , glass electrode) were performed at 0.1 ≤ I (mol L −1 ) ≤ 5.0 for NaClaq and 0.5 ≤ I (mol L −1 ) ≤ 3.0 for (CH3)4NClaq. Solubility data allowed us to determine Setschenow constants and activity coefficients of neutral carbocysteine (H2ccys). Dependence on ionic strength and ionic medium of protonation constants and activity coeff…

Effect of the reference solution in the measurement of ion activity coefficients using cells with transference at T=298.15K

2010

Abstract This work reports individual activity coefficients of ions at T = 298.15 K in aqueous solutions obtained from voltage values of the respective half-cell ion-selective-electrode and a single-junction Ag–AgCl reference electrode, filled with different reference solutions at different concentrations. For potassium and chloride ions in KCl aqueous solutions, reference solutions of KCl, NaCl, or CsCl were used. For sodium and chloride ions in aqueous NaCl solutions, reference solutions of CsCl were used. Experimental runs were performed at molalities (1, 2, and 3) m of the reference solution. The concentration of the sample solution was increased, starting from around 1 · 10−3 m, up to …

Modeling ATP protonation and activity coefficients in NaClaq and KClaq by SIT and Pitzer equations.

2006

Abstract The acid–base properties of Adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) in NaCl and KCl aqueous solutions at different ionic strengths (0  I  / mol L − 1  ≤ 5 for NaCl aq , 0  I  / mol L − 1  ≤ 3 for KCl aq ) and at t  = 25 °C were investigated. A selection of literature data on ATP protonation constants and on activity isopiestic coefficients was performed, together with new potentiometric measurements (by ISE-H + , glass electrode). Both literature and new experimental data were used to model the dependence on ionic strength and ionic medium of ATP protonation by SIT (Specific ion Interaction Theory) and Pitzer equations. In addition to values of first and second ATP protonation constants in…

First Protection of a Wide-Rim Tetraamino Calix[4]arene in Opposite Positions

2007

The importance of tetraamino calix[4]arenes as starting materials is distinctly increased by the first versatile protective group for opposite amino functions. Reaction with trityl chloride leads to the 1,3-dialkylated derivative easily isolated in 34% yield; after a first acylation of the remaining amino groups, the trityl residues can be removed by TFA to introduce a second acyl group. Die kationische ɛ-caprolactam-polymerisation. IV.

Mikropra…

Augmented Passive Transfer of Contact Sensitivity in Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Mice and Its Dependence of Vβ8+ Cells in…

1993

The passive transfer of contact sensitivity using picryl chloride immune cells from H-2 syngenic BALB/c donors was analyzed in severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mice which lack functional T and B lymphocytes. H-2-restricted and antigen-specific contact sensitivity was transferred to SCID mice, and comparison between the level of contact sensitivity and the number of transferred cells showed a significantly more efficient transfer to SCID than to BALB/c mice. The cells passively transferring contact sensitivity were shown to carry the Vβ8 phenotype. Moreover, chromium-labeled cells from BALB/c PC1-primed donors localize normally in peripheral lymphoid organs, and an increased percentag…
