Reverse electrodialysis with NH4HCO3-water systems for heat-to-power conversion

Abstract A Reverse ElectroDialysis Heat Engine (REDHE) system operating with “thermolytic” ammonium hydrogen-carbonate (NH4HCO3) aqueous solutions as working fluids is studied. The engine is constituted by (i) a RED unit to produce electric power by mixing the solutions at different salinity and (ii) a thermally-driven regeneration unit including a stripping and an absorption column to restore the initial salinity gradient thus closing the cycle. In the present work only the RED unit and the stripping column are taken into account. Deserting Characters in Pavese’s Work ∙ Pavese’s experience of World War ii has been widely controversial. Anti-fascist without joining the Italian Resistance, Pavese reimagines his nonparticipation to the confict across several of his post-1945 works. The essay ofers a thematic reading on deserting fgures in some poems from La terra e la morte, in I due (included in Dialogues with Leucò), in the novel The House on the Hill. The reading brings out the torn and evolving development of the issue of deserting in Pavese’s oeuvre.

In this paper, we give a simple equivalent formulation of 0-closed sesquilinear forms. The main underlying idea is to consider minimal pairs of non-negative dominating forms.

Settore SECS-S/05 - Statistica SocialeDogs roaming in urban areas constitute an issue for public order hygiene and health. Proper planning of actions for health and security control and allocation of financial funds require the knowledge of the roaming–dog–population size in a given urban area. Unfortunately a reliable statistical procedure aimed to measure such population is not available yet in literature. This paper presents a simple reproducible survey sampling procedure to estimate the number of roaming dogs in an urban area through the description of a real study carried out on a restricted area of the city of Palermo in southern Italy. A sample of areas is drawn by means of a drawn–by–drawn spatial sampling with probabilities proportional to size and without replacement (PPSWOR). As inclusion probabilities are not available in closed form they are estimated by Monte Carlo approach which is of simple implementation and permits design–based variance estimation even when first–order inclusion probabilities are unknown.
