Dopamine antagonists impair ‘red-green’ discrimination in goldfish after intravitreal injection

1995

Color vision in goldfish is tetrachromatic. However, under mesopic illumination conditions the L-cones do not contribute to wavelength discrimination, and color vision becomes trichromatic. To investigate the role of dopamine in light adaptation, we tested the effect of the unspecific dopamine antagonist haloperidol and of the specific dopamine Dl receptor antagonists SCH 23390 and SKF 83566-biotinyl in behavioral wavelength discrimination experiments. After injection of dopamine antagonists into the vitreous, a reduction in wavelength discrimination was observed in the range between 560 nm and 630 nm but not in the range between 404 nm and 501 nm.

JIMWLK evolution of the odderon

2016

We study the effects of a parity-odd "odderon" correlation in JIMWLK renormalization group evolution at high energy. Firstly we show that in the eikonal picture where the scattering is described by Wilson lines, one obtains a strict mathematical upper limit for the magnitude of the odderon amplitude compared to the parity even pomeron one. This limit increases with N_c, approaching infinity in the infinite N_c limit. We use a systematic extension of the Gaussian approximation including both 2- and 3-point correlations which enables us to close the system of equations even at finite N_c. In the large-N_c limit we recover an evolution equation derived earlier. By solving this equation numeric…

Cholesterol-Inulin Conjugates for Efficient SN38 Nuclear Delivery: Nanomedicines for Precision Cancer Therapy

2022

An amphiphilic inulin-thiocholesterol conjugate (INU-Cys-TC) was strategically designed as a biodegradable core-shell nanocarrier of 7-ethyl-10-hydroxy-camptothecin (SN38) to enhance its solubility and stability in aqueous media, thus exploiting its brilliant anticancer effect. INU-Cys-TC was designed to have the hydrophilic inulin backbone (external shell) partially functionalized with hydrophobic thiocholesterol moieties (internal core) through a biodegradable disulfide bond due to cysteamine bridges. Thiocholesterol moieties impair redox-sensitive self-assembling abilities, yielding to nano-sized micelles in aqueous media capable of efficiently encapsulating a high amount of SN38 (DL = 8…

Serīna proteāzes inhibitora Kazel 1 tipa (SPINK 1) nozīme kolorektālā vēža prognostiskā biomarkerī

2019

Direct Identification of Each Specific Mutation in Codon 12 and 13 of ci-ki-ras2 by SSCP Analysis

1998

We compared the SSCP behaviour of the DNA fragments containing c-ki-ras 2 wild type 12 and 13 codons or each of the 12 possible point mutated sequences in these two codons. We found that a single electrophoresis condition was sufficient to distinguish each specific mutation from the other 11 and from the wild type sequence. This observation makes it possible to identify each specific mutation directly by SSCP without any need for reamplification and sequencing.

HSP110 promotes colorectal cancer growth through STAT3 activation.

2017

IF 7.932; International audience; Heat shock protein 110 (HSP110) is induced by different stresses and, through its anti-apoptotic and chaperoning properties, helps cells survive these adverse situations. In colon cancers, HSP110 is abnormally abundant. We have recently shown that colorectal cancer patients with microsatellite instability (MSI) had an improved response to chemotherapy because they harbor an HSP110-inactivating mutation (HSP110DE9). In this work, we used patient biopsies, human colorectal cancer cells grown in vitro and in vivo (xenografts), and intestinal crypts to demonstrate that HSP110 is also involved in colon cancer growth. We showed that HSP110 induces colon cancer ce…

Signaling molecules: the pathogenic role of the IL-6/STAT-3 trans signaling pathway in intestinal inflammation and in colonic cancer.

2008

Although the precise etiology of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) still remains unclear, considerable progress has been made in the identification of novel signal transduction pathways that elucidate the immunopathogenesis involved in the perpetuation of the inflammatory process. As both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are associated with an increased risk for developing colorectal cancer (CRC) and precancerous dysplastic epithelial changes, further studies have concentrated on finding a common signaling pathway that could serve as a mechanistic link between inflammation and associated colonic cancer in IBD. This review presents the current data concerning the pathogenic role of the…

Tumor-Derived Small Extracellular Vesicles Induce Pro-Inflammatory Cytokine Expression and PD-L1 Regulation in M0 Macrophages via IL-6/STAT3 and TLR4…

2021

Tumor-associated macrophages play a key role in promoting tumor progression by exerting an immunosuppressive phenotype associated with the expression of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1). It is well known that tumor-derived small extracellular vesicles (SEVs) affect the tumor microenvironment, influencing TAM behavior. The present study aimed to examine the effect of SEVs derived from colon cancer and multiple myeloma cells on macrophage functions. Non-polarized macrophages (M0) differentiated from THP-1 cells were co-cultured with SEVs derived from a colorectal cancer (CRC) cell line, SW480, and a multiple myeloma (MM) cell line, MM1.S. The expression of PD-L1, interleukin-6 (IL-6), a…

HSP110 : role in colorectal cancer development and immunogenicity

2015

Our team studies HSPs, including HSP110. HSPs are chaperones involved in the folding of newly synthesized and denatured proteins. HSPs are overexpressed under stress conditions and are involved in cell survival thanks to their anti-apoptotic and anti-aggregation functions. HSP110 is overexpressed in colorectal cancer and is associated with a poor prognosis. The expression of a mutant HSP110, named HSP110DE9, has been shown in MSI colorectal cancer. This one was shown to act there as a dominant negative, by binding HSP110 and inhibiting its functions. Its expression sensitizes cancer cells to chemotherapy and is associated with a better prognosis for patients.I was first interested in HSP110…
