Characterizing Web sessions of e-customers interested in traditional and innovative products

2016

Web traffic characterization and modelling is currently a hot research issue. Low-level analysis of HTTP traffic on the server allows one to build adequate traffic models to be used in server benchmarking. High-level analysis of Web user behavior allows one to optimize website structure and develop personalized service strategies. In this paper, analysis of customer sessions in an online store is performed using Web server log data. The goal is to explore possible differences between sessions of customers viewing and purchasing innovative products, and customers only interested in traditional products.

Barriers to Data-Driven Decision-Making Among Online Retailers

2022

This study investigates the barriers to data-driven decision-making among online retailers. The study seeks to deepen the previous knowledge by considering data-driven decision-making as a process and identifying the critical obstacles within its different (6) stages. Qualitative interview data (N=10) collected from Finnish e-commerce professionals are analyzed. The findings show that barriers to data-driven decision-making occur at all stages during the decision-making process. The barriers are mostly related to the employees’ and the management’s expertise in collecting, organizing, analyzing, summarizing, synthesizing, and prioritizing data. In addition, attitudinal, technical, and strat…

How is the use of mobile money services transforming lives in Ghana?

2018

Mobile money (MM) is considered a revolutionary phenomenon in the developing world and relies on basic mobile handsets capable of voice and SMS or text. This chapter assesses the potential of mobile phones as a delivery mechanism for financial services in Ghana. Based on the sample of 595 responses collected during the months of September and October, 2016, we investigated various consequences that influence the consumer decision-making process and continuous usage within the mainstream MM or micro-financial services. In total, six hypotheses were developed and tested. The results provided support for all the hypotheses. The key takeaway from this chapter is that MM service agent credibilit…

2015

The goal of this paper is to propose an analysis of the multiple evolutions, which frequently seem contradictory, of the laws that regulate the commercial urbanism along with the functioning of distribution channel of great consumption products in France. This research highlights the contrast between comprehensive regulations that lead to deep change in firm strategies, and limited rules that perturb the relationships between distribution channel members and result in a contentious functioning of channels.
