Fabrication of Electrical Contacts on Pyramid-Shaped NTD-Ge Microcalorimeters Using Free-Standing Shadow Masks
2011
In our effort to fabricate arrays of germanium microcalorimeters for X-ray detection, a truncated square-based pyramid shape has been identified as a suitable geometry for the sensors. It allows to obtain a uniform current spreading across each sensor, and represents a good compromise between having a large support area for the radiation absorber and for maintaining an overall small bolometer volume. This three-dimensional geometry, however, does not allow to create the electrical contacts for the sensors using a regular photoresist-based lift-off metallization process. In this paper we show how to deposit metal contacts on the lateral faces of the pyramidal sensors by metal evaporation thr…
Pd/Au/SiC Nanostructured Diodes for Nanoelectronics: Room Temperature Electrical Properties
2010
Pd/Au/SiC nanostructured Schottky diodes were fabricated embedding Au nanoparticles (NPs) at the metalsemiconductor interface of macroscopic Pd/SiC contacts. The Au NPs mean size was varied controlling the temperature and time of opportune annealing processes. The electrical characteristics of the nanostructured diodes were studied as a function of the NPs mean size. In particular, using the standard theory of thermoionic emission, we obtained the effective Schottky barrier height (SBH) and the effective ideality factor observing their dependence on the annealing time and temperature being the signature of their dependence on the mean NP size. Furthermore, plotting the effective SBH as a fu…
Landscape Dynamics and Cultural Contacts in the Territory of Himera in the Archaic Period
2022
In central-northern Sicily, the watershed area between the northern and southern Imera and Platani rivers has already been recognized for years as a pivotal area in relations between the different areas of the island, both in reference to the political and economic projections of the colonial poleis , especially between Himera, Akragas, both in reference to economic relations and cultural contacts with indigenous communities. This area is very crucial context of encounter and confrontation between communities, in which complex systems of territorial articulation can be grasped. The position of the settlements along the basins of the two Himera highlights a close connection in terms of inter…
Size dependence of the Josephson critical behavior in pyrolytic graphite TEM lamellae
2014
We have studied the transport characteristics of TEM lamellae of different widths obtained from a graphite sample with electrical contacts at the edges of the embedded interfaces. The temperature dependence of the resistance, as well as the current-voltage characteristics, are compatible with the existence of Josephson-coupled superconducting regions. The transition temperature at which the Josephson behavior sets in decreases with a decreasing interface width and vanishes for widths below 200 nm. This interface-size dependence provides an explanation for differences observed in the transport behavior of graphite-based samples with interfaces, and it appears to be related to the influence o…
Improving the Quality Management of the Thermosonic Welding Process of Gold Wires in Automotive Industry
2018
Abstract This scientific paper conducts a study meant to improve the quality management of the thermosonic welding process of gold wires in the automotive industry. Within the large amount of electronic products manufactured worldwide, the gold wire bonding is the preferred technology for creating the needed interconnections in the microelectronic industry. In this paper, the quality management improving starts with an experimental research in the automotive industry, based on the gold wire thermosonic bonding, in terms of: conformal structuring, robustness and integrity of the electrical contacts. The experimental research is based on the processing parameters and on the independent variab…
Investigation on Metal–Oxide Graphene Field-Effect Transistors With Clamped Geometries
2019
In this work, we report on the design, fabrication and characterization of Metal-Oxide Graphene Field-effect Transistors (MOGFETs) exploiting novel clamped gate geometries aimed at enhancing the device transconductance. The fabricated devices employ clamped metal contacts also for source and drain, as well as an optimized graphene meandered pattern for source contacting, in order to reduce parasitic resistance. Our experimental results demonstrate that MOGFETs with the proposed structure show improved high frequency performance, in terms of maximum available gain and transition frequency values, as a consequence of the higher equivalent transconductance obtained.
Carbon nanotube field-effect devices with asymmetric electrode configuration by contact geometry
2014
We have studied experimentally the conductive properties of single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) based field-effect type devices, with different contact geometries at the connecting electrode. The device designs are asymmetric with one end of the SWNT having the metal electrode deposited on top and immersing it, while at the other end, the SWNT is on top of the electrode. The devices were made with either gold or palladium as electrode materials, of which the latter resulted in different behavior of the different contact types. This is argued to be caused by the existence of a thin insulating layer of surface adsorbents on the palladium, possibly Pd5O4, the effect of which is enhanced by th…
Vers le développement d'un capteur photoplétysmographique sans contact
2019
Heart-rate estimation performed with remote photoplethysmography is a very active research field. Since pioneer works in 2010, which demonstrated the feasibility of the measure with low-grade consumers’ camera (webcam), the number of scientific publications have increased significantly in the domain. Hence, we observe a multiplication of the methods in order to retrieve the photoplethysmographic signal which has led to an increased precision and quality of the heart-rate estimation. Region of interest segmentation is a key step of the processing pipeline in order to maximize the quality of the measured signal. We propose a new method to perform remote photoplethysmographic measurement using…
