Synthesis and thermal decomposition studies of homo- and heteroleptic tin(iv) thiolates and dithiocarbamates: molecular precursors for tin sulfides

The syntheses and X-ray structures of novel heteroleptic thiolate/dithiocarbamate derivatives (Et2NCS2)2(RS)2Sn (R = Cy, CH2CF3) have been examined and their thermal decompositions compared with those of selected tin(II) and tin(IV) dithiocarbamates. The heteroleptic species decompose to SnS by initial elimination of RSSR to afford (Et2NCS2)2Sn and subsequent loss of [Et2NC(S)]2S. In contrast, (Et2NCS2)4Sn decomposes via [(Et2NCS2)2SnS]2, whose structure has been determined, and finally to SnS2 by sequential elimination of [Et2NC(S)]2S. The two families of compounds, (R2NCS2)4Sn and (Et2NCS2)2(RS)2Sn, thus provide single-source materials for bulk SnS2 and SnS, respectively, by virtue of the…

Abstract Double deprotonation of either (E,E)-3-methyl-2,4-hexadienoic acid 2, or 4,6-dimethyldihydro-2-pyrone 3 generates apparently the same lithium trienediolate, which affords ω-hydroxy acids 9 on reaction with ketones 7. Hydroxy acids 9 are easily dehydrated to octatrienoic acids 5, which are structurally related to retinoic acid. Similarly, sorbic acid 1 leads to nor-retinoic acid analogs 6.

The decomposition reactions of the lithiated dimer, trimer, and tetramer of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in THF at 25°C were investigated. The decomposition of the lithiated dimer proceeds via depolymerization to lithiated monomer and MMA, addition of MMA to residual lithiated dimer, resulting the trimer (“disproportionation” of the dimer), and subsequent autocondensation of the products. The lithiated trimer almost exclusively undergoes cyclo-autocondensation, whereas for the lithiated tetramer both reactions proceed simultaneously to a remarkable degree. Temperature and pH Dependence of Gd-DOTA and Gd-DTPA Complexes Dissociation Studied by EXAFS

The Gd L3-edge of Gd(DTPA) 2- and Gd(DOTA) - complexes, in crystalline state and aqueous solutions presenting various pH (0.15-8) at different temperatures (25-90 °C), are investigated by XAFS experiments. For the Gd(DTPA) 2- . complexes we observe a strong pH (0.15-1.5) dependence of XAFS signals. On the other hand, the XAFS signals of Gd(DOTA) - complexes exhibit a light pH (1-1.5) dependence and for pH<1 we observe a ligand decomposition. Conceming both complexes, we note just a light temperature dependence. To obtain information about the short and medium range order (up to 5 A), multiple scattering calculation is performed. Films of Me-Ce oxide (Me: Ti, Zr, Sn, W) and of Ni-Ce hydroxide were produced by reactive magnetron co-sputtering. Li intercalation in Me-Ce oxide, and H exchange in Ni-Ce hydroxide, were accomplished electrochemically. Electrochromism was quenched in proportion with the Ce content in Me-Ce oxide. Films of Zr-Ce (and to some extent Ti-Ce) oxide were able to serve as fully transparent counter electrodes, of much interest for transparent electrochromic devices. In Ni-Ce hydroxide, the Ce addition enhanced the capacity for charge exchange.

Single crystals of Na40K6[Ni(H2O)6]3 [K@K7Ce24Ge12W120O456 (OH)12(H2O)64]· 178H2O are synthesized by addition of KCl to a NaOAc/AcOH buffer solution containing Ce(NO3)3, GeO2, Na2WO4, and NiCl2 followed by slow evaporation at room temperature (24% yield).

Nach einem Uberblick uber bisherige Arbeiten uber den Mechanismus des sauer katalysierten Abbaus von Polyoxymethylendiolen wird der Abbau in 1-proz. Losung in Nitrobenzol bei 135°C unter dem Einflus verschiedener Carbonsauren untersucht. Phenylessigsare verursacht keine nennenswerte Kettenspaltung, sondern katalysiert lediglich die Depolymerisation an den halbacetalischen Kettenenden. Die Depolymerisationsgeschwindigkeit ist etwa proportional der Saurekonzentration und umgekehrt proportional dem Polymerisationsgrad. Wahrend des Abbaus andert sich der durchschnittliche Polymerisationsgrad nicht wesentlich. Diese Befunde lassen sich mit keinem der diskutierten Reaktionsmechanismen widerspruch…

The non-selective methylation of compounds 3a-d using ethereal diazomethane, allowed the synthesis of isomers 4 and 5 which were useful intermediates for the preparation, by a simple approach, of the title compounds 7 and 9. A complete assignment of the chemical shifts to the carbon atoms of the compounds 7 and 9 was performed by different nmr experiments, such as DEPT and XHDEPT for onebond CH correlations and COLOC experiments for long-range C-H correlations.
