“Krokodil”—Revival of an Old Drug with New Problems

2012

In order to summarize current knowledge about the drug "Krokodil" a systematic review including a literature search of the databases PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Google was conducted in December 2011. According to information acquired, "Krokodil" is a mixture of several substances and was first reported to have been used in Russia in 2003. The core agent of "Krokodil" is desomorphine, an opioid-analogue that can be easily and cheaply manufactured by oneself. Self-production results in a contaminated suspension that is injected intravenously. Due to its pharmacologic features, desomorphine shows a high potential to cause dependence. Against the background of first possible cases of "Krokodil"…

The Multiscale Stochastic Model of Fractional Hereditary Materials (FHM)

2013

Abstract In a recent paper the authors proposed a mechanical model corresponding, exactly, to fractional hereditary materials (FHM). Fractional derivation index 13 E [0,1/2] corresponds to a mechanical model composed by a column of massless newtonian fluid resting on a bed of independent linear springs. Fractional derivation index 13 E [1/2, 1], corresponds, instead, to a mechanical model constituted by massless, shear-type elastic column resting on a bed of linear independent dashpots. The real-order of derivation is related to the exponent of the power-law decay of mechanical characteristics. In this paper the authors aim to introduce a multiscale fractance description of FHM in presence …

Prediction of chromatographic properties of organophosphorus insecticides by molecular connectivity

2000

A study is reported of the relationship between theR F values for a group of organophosphorus insecticides obtained by thin layer chromatography and a series of topological descriptors. By using multivariate regression, the corresponding connectivity functions were obtained, which had been selected on the basis of their respective statistical parameters: multiple correlation coefficient (r), standard error of estimate (s), F-Snedecor values and statistical significance (Student’s t). Regression analysis of the connectivity functions can predict the elution behaviour of any structurally similar derivative of this group of compounds with different stationary and mobile phases. Stability studi…

The Recognition of Viologen Derivatives in Water by N-Alkyl Ammonium Resorcinarene Chlorides

2017

Three water-soluble N-alkyl ammonium resorcinarene chlorides decorated with terminal hydroxyl groups at the lower rims were synthesized and characterized. The receptors were decorated at the upper rim with either terminal hydroxyl, rigid cyclohexyl, or flexible benzyl groups. The binding affinities of these receptors toward three viologen derivatives, two of which possess an acetylmethyl group attached to one of the pyridine nitrogens, in water were investigated via 1H NMR spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC). ITC quantification of the binding process gave association constants of up to 103 M-1. Analyses reveal a spontaneous binding process whi…

A New Entry to the Substituted Pyrrolo[3,2-c]quinoline Derivatives of Biological Interest by Intramolecular Heteroannulation of Internal Imines.

2004

New 1,3,4-substituted pyrrolo[3,2-c]quinoline derivatives were synthesised in good yields by oxidative heteroannulation of internal imines starting from easily prepared substituted 5-(2-aminophenyl)pyrroles and commercially available aryl and heteroaryl aldehydes. The reaction occurs as a one-pot process involving an intramolecular acid catalysed reaction.

ChemInform Abstract: 4-Fluoroanilines: Synthesis and Decomposition.

2010

Abstract Fourteen N- and/or 2-substituted 4-fluoroanilines were prepared (the series includes N–C2-bridged compounds). Some of them were found to be thermally unstable when dissolved in chloroform. Both 19 F NMR spectra and comparison of GIAO-DFT calculated and experimental 13 C chemical shifts were used to suggest decomposition products of 4-fluoroanilines.

Highly untangled multiwalled carbon nanotube@polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane ionic hybrids: Synthesis, characterization and nonlinear optical pr…

2015

Abstract Highly de-bundled multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) polymer nanohybrids were obtained via ionic assembling of a novel POSS-polyimidazolium-ionic liquid (POSS = polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes) with oxidized MWCNTs. The synthesis, accomplished by a simple bilayer chloroform/water metathetical reaction process, was promoted by the high surfactant properties of POSS-imidazolium-polyionic liquid, which assisted the effective de-bundling, dispersion and purification of the as prepared POSS@MWCNT polymers in organic media, via a surface coating mechanism. The presence of remarkably intense radial breathing modes (RBMs) in Raman spectra, both in solution and as solid, corroborates…

Fractional differential calculus for 3D mechanically based non-local elasticity

2011

This paper aims to formulate the three-dimensional (3D) problem of non-local elasticity in terms of fractional differential operators. The non-local continuum is framed in the context of the mechanically based non-local elasticity established by the authors in a previous study; Non-local interactions are expressed in terms of central body forces depending on the relative displacement between non-adjacent volume elements as well as on the product of interacting volumes. The non-local, long-range interactions are assumed to be proportional to a power-law decaying function of the interaction distance. It is shown that, as far as an unbounded domain is considered, the elastic equilibrium proble…
