Potere, consenso e dissenso nell’Ystoriola Langobardorum Beneventum degentium di Erchemperto

2021

Involvement of carboxyl groups in chloride transport and reversible DIDS binding to band 3 protein in human erythrocytes

2011

AbstractNoncovalent DIDS binding to Band 3 (AE1) protein in human erythrocyte membranes, modified by non-penetrating, water soluble 1-ethyl-3-(4-azonia-4,4-dimethylpentyl)-carbodiimide iodide (EAC), was studied at 0°C in the presence of 165 mM KCl. Under experimental conditions applied up to (48 ± 5) % of irreversible chloride self-exchange inhibition was observed. The apparent dissociation constant, KD, for “DIDS-Band 3” complex, determined from the chloride transport experiments, was (34 ± 3) nM and (80 ± 12) nM for control and EAC-treated resealed ghosts, respectively. The inhibition constant, Ki, for DIDS was (35 ± 6) nM and (60 ± 8) nM in control and EAC-treated ghosts, respectively. T…

Politics of Mobility and Stability in Authorizing European Heritage : Estonia’s Great Guild Hall

2019

AbstractKaasik-Krogerus scrutinizes the European Heritage Label (EHL) as an authorized heritage discourse (AHD) in the making. She analyses how the discourse is formed in a politics of mobility and stability between the local, national, and European scales resulting from the interplay of europeanization (of the national and local) and domestication (of the European). The chapter asks how this politics of mobility and stability is conducted to manage the scalar dissonance in one of the sites, the Great Guild Hall in Tallinn, Estonia. Kaasik-Krogerus argues that the politics conducted in the exhibitions works in two controversial ways: legitimizing mobility and stability as natural and simult…

Influence of three types of superplasticizers on tricalciumaluminate hydration in presence of gypsum.

2006

International audience; Different types of superplasticizers have been widely used over the past few decades in order to produce a more fluid or very high strength and durable concrete. These chemical admixtures interfere with the various physico-chemical processes occurring in early cement paste. In this paper we present results from a study on the influence of superplasticizers on pure tricalciumaluminate hydration in presence of gypsum. The suspensions hydration has been investigated by conductimetry, isothermal calorimetry and total organic carbon analysis of the liquid phase. The time taken for ettringite formation has been determined without superplasticizer and in presence of three d…

Uno sguardo d'insieme

2021

Colloidal Nanoplatelet/Conducting Polymer Hybrids: Excitonic And Material Properties

2016

WOS:000370678700053 Here we present the first account of conductive polymer/colloidal nanoplatelet hybrids. For this, we developed DEH-PPV-based polymers with two different anchor groups (sulfide and amine) acting as surfactants for CdSe nanoplatelets, which are atomically flat semiconductor nanocrystals. Hybridization of the polymers with the nanoplatelets in the solution phase was observed to cause strong photoluminescence quenching in both materials. Through steady-state photoluminescence and excitation spectrum measurements, photoluminescence quenching was shown to result from dominant exciton dissociation through charge transfer at the polymer/nanoplatelet interfaces that possess a sta…

Review of the quality of youTube videos recommending exercises for the COVID-19 Lockdown

2022

Background: The world is experiencing a pandemic caused by COVID-19. Insufficient physical activity can increase the risk of illness. Trying to replicate a normal search that any user/patient could do in YouTube, the objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of YouTube videos related to home exercises during lockdown and their adherence to World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. Methods: A simple search was carried out on YouTube. The first 150 videos were selected. After applying exclusion criteria, 68 videos were analyzed and evaluated. Two statistical analyses based on machine learning techniques were carried out. Videos were classified according to principal component…

Interaction of Mo(CO) 6 and its derivative fragments with the Cu(001) surface: Influence on the decomposition process

2014

A theoretical study on the adsorption and decomposition of molybdenum carbonyl on the copper (001) surface is reported. The adsorption structures and energies of Mo(CO)n molecules (n = 1 … 6) are computed systematically using density functional theory with Van der Waals corrections. By analyzing the energies of the various conformations, the main factors that determine the stable adsorption geometry are identified. Insight into the thermodynamics of decomposition is gained by calculating the reaction energy for dissociation of Mo(CO)n into Mo(CO)n−1 and CO. In the gas phase, this reaction is highly endothermic for all n. On the Cu surface, however, removal of the first CO group (n = 6) beco…

A worrisome failure of the CC2 coupled-cluster method when applied to ozone

2010

Abstract The approximate coupled-cluster singles and doubles model CC2 is widely used for calculations of excited states in large molecules. We demonstrate a surprising failure of the CC2 geometry optimization of ozone, whereby the CC2 method predicts a barrierless, exothermic, and symmetric dissociation to three oxygen atoms. This is particularly astonishing since both second-order Moller–Plesset perturbation theory and coupled-cluster singles and doubles give reasonable equilibrium structures. We find that [ [ H , T 1 ] , T 1 ] leads to an unbalanced treatment of T 1 and T 2 in the CC2 equations. Results presented here suggest that considerable caution should be exercised when applying th…

Role of expectancy in physiological responses to sound recognition of musical dissonance and timbral change

2021

Recently, it has been suggested that tonal violations produce greater skin conductance response (SCR) than timbral violations in music listening. However, it is unknown how people focus their attention during musical excerpts. The aim of this study is to replicate previous research considering two psychophysiological mechanisms: prediction error and brain stem reflex. Twenty-seven nonmusicians were instructed to listen six melodies and detect three altered conditions in one note: a dissonance (note out-of-key), a timbral change, and dissonance which changes in timbre and tone ( timdis). Amplitudes of SCR, heart rate (HR), and respiration rate (RSPR) were analyzed. In addition, the frequenc…
