On optimal deployment of low power nodes for high frequency next generation wireless systems
2018
Recent development of wireless communication systems and standards is characterized by constant increase of allocated spectrum resources. Since lower frequency ranges cannot provide sufficient amount of bandwidth, new bands are allocated at higher frequencies, for which operators resort to deploy more base stations to ensure the same coverage and to utilize more efficiently higher frequencies spectrum. Striving for deployment flexibility, mobile operators can consider deploying low power nodes that could be either small cells connected via the wired backhaul or relays that utilize the same spectrum and the wireless access technology. However, even though low power nodes provide a greater fl…
Structural and functional features of human muscle-tendon unit.
2006
This paper reviews the architectural details and the in vivo behavior of the human muscle-tendon unit with the focus on the triceps surae and quadriceps femoris muscles. Recent advances in experimental techniques allow in vivo measurements of muscle-tendon architecture and function. In particular, the use of ultrasonography for measurement of tendon and muscle has expanded our knowledge in the last decade. Furthermore, the nuclear magnetic resonance imaging is opening up new insights not only for three-dimensional anatomical information but also for examining musculo-skeletal motion in vivo. While these two completely non-invasive methods provide kinematic data, in vivo force measurements s…
Dual Connectivity in Non-Stand Alone Deployment mode of 5G in Manhattan Environment
2020
| openaire: EC/H2020/815191/EU//PriMO-5G The main target of this paper is to analyze the performance of an outdoor user in a dense micro cellular Manhattan grid environment using a ray launching simulation tool. The radio propagation simulations are performed using a Shoot and Bouncing Ray (SBR) method. The network performance is analyzed at three different frequencies i.e. 1.8 GHz, 3.5 GHz, and 28 GHz. Additionally, the benefits of combining LTE and potential 5G frequency bands by using feature of Dual Connectivity (DC) in an outdoor scenario has been highlighted. The considered performance metrics are received signal level, SINR, application throughput. The acquired simulation results fro…
Outage Analysis of Relay-Aided Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access with Partial Relay Selection
2018
Non-Orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) holds promise as a spectrally efficient multiple access scheme for 5G communication networks. This work investigates the performance of NOMA in a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying network, which is subject to Nakagami-$m$ fading. Specifically, we obtain a novel closed-form expression of the outage probability for the near and far users when the partial relay selection (PRS) scheme is used for selecting the best among $N$ intermediate relays. The users are considered to employ selection combining technique in order to combine the relayed and the direct transmission signals for an increased reliability of detection. Then, we evaluate the impact o…
Toward a Rationale for the PTC124 (Ataluren) Promoted Readthrough of Premature Stop Codons: A Computational Approach and GFP-Reporter Cell-Based Assay
2014
The presence in the mRNA of premature stop codons (PTCs) results in protein truncation responsible for several inherited (genetic) diseases. A well-known example of these diseases is cystic fibrosis (CF), where approximately 10% (worldwide) of patients have nonsense mutations in the CF transmembrane regulator (CFTR) gene. PTC124 (3-(5-(2-fluorophenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-benzoic acid), also known as Ataluren, is a small molecule that has been suggested to allow PTC readthrough even though its target has yet to be identified. In the lack of a general consensus about its mechanism of action, we experimentally tested the ability of PTC124 to promote the readthrough of premature termination c…
Optimal Usage of Multiple Network Connections
2008
In the future mobile networks, a mobile terminal is able to select the best suitable network for each data transmission. The selection of a network connection to be used has been under a lot of study. In this paper, we consider a more extensive case in which we do not select a network connection but use several network connections simultaneously to transfer data. When data is transferred using multiple network connections, a network connection has to be selected for each component of the data. We have modelled this problem as a multiobjective optimization problem and developed a heuristic to solve the problem fast in a static network environment. In this paper, we discuss solving the proble…
Fenibuta piemaisījumu kvantitatīvas noteikšanas metodes optimizācija un validācija
2021
Kokina. P., zinātniskie vadītāji: Dr. ķīm. V. Bartkevičs (LU), Dr. ķīm. A. Bolotin (AS Olainfarm).
The DMT of Real and Quaternionic Lattice Codes and DMT Classification of Division Algebra Codes
2021
In this paper we consider the diversity-multiplexing gain tradeoff (DMT) of so-called minimum delay asymmetric space-time codes. Such codes are less than full dimensional lattices in their natural ambient space. Apart from the multiple input single output (MISO) channel there exist very few methods to analyze the DMT of such codes. Further, apart from the MISO case, no DMT optimal asymmetric codes are known. We first discuss previous criteria used to analyze the DMT of space-time codes and comment on why these methods fail when applied to asymmetric codes. We then consider two special classes of asymmetric codes where the code-words are restricted to either real or quaternion matrices. We p…
Reputation-Based Blockchain for Spatial Crowdsourcing in Vehicular Networks
2022
The sharing of high-quality traffic information plays a crucial role in enhancing the driving experience and safety performance for vehicular networks, especially in the development of electric vehicles (EVs). The crowdsourcing-based real-time navigation of charging piles is characterized by low delay and high accuracy. However, due to the lack of an effective incentive mechanism and the resource-consuming bottleneck of sharing real-time road conditions, methods to recruit or motivate more EVs to provide high-quality information gathering has attracted considerable interest. In this paper, we first introduce a blockchain platform, where EVs act as the blockchain nodes, and a reputation-base…
