Home delivery meal : issue and impact of this service on the nutritional status of older people living at home
2021
Introduction. In old age, the onset of disabilities (physical, cognitive) can lead older adults to have difficulty doing certain tasks of daily life, particularly those related to alimentation (shopping, meal preparation). To alleviate these difficulties, more and more elderly people are using home delivery meal services. The objective of this thesis is to question the place and role of such services in preventing undernutrition in the elderly population. Undernutrition is common in this population and results from an imbalance between nutritional intake and needs. Materials and methods. In this thesis, several approaches were combined. A systematic literature review documented the undernut…
The Fish Pathogen Vibrio vulnificus Biotype 2: Epidemiology, Phylogeny, and Virulence Factors Involved in Warm-Water Vibriosis
2015
ABSTRACT Vibrio vulnificus biotype 2 is the etiological agent of warm-water vibriosis, a disease that affects eels and other teleosts, especially in fish farms. Biotype 2 is polyphyletic and probably emerged from aquatic bacteria by acquisition of a transferable virulence plasmid that encodes resistance to innate immunity of eels and other teleosts. Interestingly, biotype 2 comprises a zoonotic clonal complex designated as serovar E that has extended worldwide. One of the most interesting virulence factors produced by serovar E is RtxA1 3 , a multifunctional protein that acts as a lethal factor for fish, an invasion factor for mice, and a survival factor outside the host. Two practically id…
Design for a high resolution electron energy loss microscope.
2019
International audience; An electron optical column has been designed for High Resolution Electron Energy Loss Microscopy (HREELM). The column is composed of electron lenses and a beam separator that are placed between an electron source based on a laser excited cesium atom beam and a time-of-flight (ToF) spectrometer or a hemispherical analyzer (HSA). The instrument will be able to perform full field low energy electron imaging of surfaces with sub-micron spatial resolution and meV energy resolution necessary for the analysis of local vibrational spectra. Thus, noncontact, real space mapping of microscopic variations in vibrational levels will be made possible. A second imaging mode will al…
Comprehensive analysis of a Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain extracellular serine protease VpSP37
2015
Proteases play an important role in the field of tissue dissociation combined with regenerative medicine. During the years new sources of proteolytic enzymes have been studied including proteases from different marine organisms both eukaryotic and prokaryotic. Herein we have purified a secreted component of an isolate of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, with electrophoretic mobilities corresponding to 36 kDa, belonging to the serine proteases family. Sequencing of the N-terminus enabled the in silico identification of the whole primary structure consisting of 345 amino acid residues with a calculated molecular mass of 37.4 KDa. The purified enzyme, named VpSP37, contains a Serine protease domain be…
Identification of DNA sequences specific for Vibrio vulnificus biotype 2 strains by suppression subtractive hybridization.
2005
ABSTRACT Vibrio vulnificus can be divided into three biotypes, and only biotype 2, which is further divided into serovars, contains eel-virulent strains. We compared the genomic DNA of a biotype 2 serovar E isolate (tester) with the genomic DNAs of three biotype 1 strains by suppression subtractive hybridization and then tested the distribution of the tester-specific DNA sequences in a wide collection of bacterial strains. In this way we identified three plasmid-borne DNA sequences that were specific for biotype 2 strains irrespective of the serovar and three chromosomal DNA sequences that were specific for serovar E biotype 2 strains. These sequences have potential for use in the diagnosis…
Role of Molybdenum on the Electronic Properties of Passive Films on Stainless Steels
2020
Potentiostatic polarization of different stainless steel grades with a mirror surface finishing was performed in order to investigate the role of Mo on stainless steels corrosion behaviour. In the attempt to gain more insight into transpassive dissolution mechanism, passive films were grown in neutral aqueous solution (pH ∼ 7) at different polarizing potentials ranging from passive to transpassive conditions. According to the photoelectrochemical characterization, Cr dissolution occurs even at low polarizing potentials in the case of AISI 304L, while higher band gap values were obtained for passive films grown on austenitic 316L and duplex SSs. Capacitance measurements suggest that the flat…

Recent advances in using Photocurrent Spectroscopy for the Characterization of Passive Films on Metals and Metallic Alloys
2020
Brominated, chlorinated and mixed brominated/chlorinated persistent organic pollutants in European eels (Anquilla anquilla) from Latvian lakes
2016
Fifty-eight European eel (Anquilla anquilla) specimens collected from five Latvian lakes were investigated for six groups of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), including polychlorinated, polybrominated and mixed bromo-chloro dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/DFs, PBDD/DFs and PXDD/DFs), polychlorinated and mixed bromo-chloro biphenyls (PCBs and PXBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). PCDD/DFs and PCBs were found to occur in the range 0.85–15.8 pg Total-WHO2005-TEQ g−1 f.w., and concentrations in most of the samples were below the maximum levels specified in European Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1259/2011. The summed concentrations of 27 PBDEs (∑PBDE) and 16 non-dioxin…
