What are the relationships among Web 2.0, market orientation and innovativeness?
2013
PurposeFirms are adopting Web 2.0 technologies to improve collaboration, participation and communication; however there are few empirical studies testing the impact of this adoption. The purpose of this article is to analyze if there is a linkage amongst market orientation, Web 2.0 adoption and innovativeness.Design/methodology/approachStructural equation modeling was used to test the relationships amongst the variables. A sample of 244 firms of the hospitality industry was used. The theoretical approach is based on the market orientation and innovativeness, concepts, which have been studied by various authors in the literature.FindingsA positive relationship was found between market orient…
OGC-to-W3C Services: A Wrapper-Based Solution for Geospatial Metadata Exchange
2018
When trying to compose services that are developed according to different standards, interoperability issues arise that are often faced by developing ad-hoc solutions. A typical example is represented by the composition of W3C and OGC services, which were developed more or less concurrently by independent organizations. In such a context, developing a wrapper that abstracts as much as possible the inner details and logic of a wrapped service well embraces the low-coupled nature of the general Service Oriented Computing paradigm. This paper focuses on the proper management of geospatial metadata into a W3C-based environment and is based on the development of a wrapper that exposes OGC functi…
Developing an economically advantageous wind forecasting method for electricity market design with a 15-minute imbalance settlement period
2019
According to legal framework developed by European Commission all EU Member States shall employ 15minute time resolution for imbalance settlement no later than 18th of December 2020 (or 1st of January 2025 in case of derogation). For intermittent energy sources that are traditionally associated with less precise generation forecasts this might result in considerable increase in imbalance costs. This presents a unique challenge for wind power station operators as there is lack of adequate forecasting tools supporting 15-minute time-resolution. The objective of this paper is to test and provide comparative analysis of alternative data interpolation methods in order to determine approach assoc…
Technological and legislative status point of stationary energy storages in the EU
2019
Abstract European renewable generation has been supported through several policy instruments in the last decades, and this has caused a significant growth of the renewable energy sector, spurred by the ambitious climate and energy policy targets. Despite this impetuous growth, the electricity infrastructure is not yet ready to accept increasing shares of variable renewable energy sources (RES) generation, and this is causing grid balance challenges, due to the inherently variable nature of the PV and wind energy. In order to overcome this issue, allowing higher shares of renewable generation in the energy sector, energy storage (ES) systems are becoming increasingly competitive in the globa…
HPLC determination of volatile phenols in wines
1993
An alternative to the traditional solvent extraction method used to extract and rapidly quantify ethyl-and vinylphenol and ethyl-and vinylgaiacol from wine is presented. The method is based on retention of volatile phenols on adsorbants. Among the tested resins, the most efficient, AG 2-X8 (anion exchange resin), worked as well with a synthetic solution as with wines. The percolation of clarified wine adjusted to pH 9 on this resin permits, in particular, the elimination of organic acids. Phenols are not eluted after rinsing the column with 1N HCl, but are eluted with methanol after this treatment. Good recovery (91 %) and good repeatability are observed. The eluate is directly analysed by …
Italian red wine in the Japanese market: a hedonic price analysis
2017
This study applies the hedonic pricing model to examine important objective attributes appearing on the label of Italian wines influencing average customer wine prices in Japan. Data on 829 red Italian wines sold in the Japanese market were collected through the wine searcher dataset, and the information included on the wine labels, useful for assisting in the selection and appreciation of wines, has been included. A log-linear model was esteemed and the proposed hedonic equation accounted for 43.5% of the variation in wine prices. The results indicate that international grape varieties, alcohol content and the year of production explain most of the price difference. On the other hand, the …
Study of product repositioning for the Marsala Vergine DOC wine
2017
Italian production of wine is very diversified and Sicily is one of the major regions with regards to quality and quantity of wine. The Marsala is the oldest fortified Sicilian wine, which is very valuable because of its organoleptic qualities and its production process. Marsala wine has been gaining for over a century in the Italian and foreign market, but, after a century of fame, it entered a long phase of decline because of inappropriate producers' decisions and new competitors. The objective of this study is to investigate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and treats of Marsala Vergine DOC wine for repositioning the product in the market. The focus group and factor analysis were car…
Hochleistungsflssigchromatographische Bestimmung von organischen Suren, Zuckern, Glycerin und Alkohol im Wein an einer Kationenaustauschersule
1985
Policing in the Slovak Republic: The Organization and Current Problems of Police Work
2013
The Police hold one of the most important roles within the modern society from the viewpoint of providing and maintaining peace, order and security. In the Slovak Republic the police have been in existence for a relatively short time, but legislation regulating their activities and structure has already undergone several reforms. This treatise contains information regarding the structure and tasks of the Police of the Slovak Republic, discusses the development of criminality within the Slovak Republic, and analyses the current social status of the Police.
Correlations for estimating the specific capital cost of multi-effect distillation plants considering the main design trends and operating conditions
2018
Abstract This work proposes a correlation for the specific capital cost of multi-effect distillation (MED) plants, considering their main design options and parameters, such as the number of effects, size/capacity, and heat source temperature. These parameters are varied within a large range to cover as many different cases as possible. The cost correlation decouples the evaporator cost and includes in the expression the ratio of the heat exchanger area to a reference one. This area is calculated using a validated MED numerical model, with the results then processed to produce fitted expressions. Two versions of this correlation with different levels of complexity are proposed, which provid…
