In vivo anti-inflammatory activity of saponins from Bupleurum rotundifolium
2001
Seven oleanane-type triterpene saponins were isolated from the methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Bupleurum rotundifolium. They were identified on the basis of their spectral data as 3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-28-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl] echinocystic acid (saponin 1), 3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-fucopyranosyl] 11-methoxy-primulagenin A (saponin 2), rotundioside E (saponin 3), rotundioside F (saponin 4), 3beta-sulfate, 28-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1--6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl] ester of primulagen…
Effect of Flavonol Derivatives on the Carrageenin-Induced Paw Edema in the Rat and Inhibition of Cyclooxygenase-1 and 5-Lipoxygenase in Vitro
2000
Alkoxyflavonols were synthesized by the Algar-Flynn-Oyamada (AFO) cyclization of chalcones. Hydroxyflavonols were prepared by dealkylation of methoxyflavonols by refluxing in hydroiodic acid. The alkoxyflavonols 3-hydroxy-2-(2,3,4-trimethoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (6), 2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxy-4H-chromen-4-one (7), 2-(4-butoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxy-4H-chromen-4-one (10), and 2-(3-n-butoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxy-4H-chromen-4-one (11) as well as the trihydroxy derivative 3-hydroxy-2-(3,4,5-trihydroxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (18) displayed high anti-inflammatory activity in carrageenin-induced rat paw edema. Additionally, the inhibition of enzymes of the arachidonic acid cascade by the derivatives w…

Topical Anti-Inflammatory Lignans from Haplophyllum hispanicum Haplophyllum hispanicum
1996
The present paper reports the results of the methanol extract of Haplophyllum hispanicum Spach on single or repeated local 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol acetate (TPA) administration and in the oxazolone-induced contact-delayed hypersensitivity mouse ear edemas. Two topical anti-inflammatory aryl naphthalide lignans were isolated from the active fractions of the methanol extract. They were identified by spectroscopic methods, including 13C NMR and heteronuclear multiple bond correlation (HMBC), as diphyllin acetyl apioside and tuberculatin. The former was the most active on acute TPA edema with a ID50 of 0.27 μmol/ear
ChemInform Abstract: 2-Sulfonyliminodihydropyrimidines: A Novel Class of Analgesic Compounds.
2009
A series of 2-sulfonyliminodihydropyrimidine derivatives have been synthesized and evaluated in vivo for their antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities. The results were compared with that of acetyl salicylic acid. Compounds 6Ab-d and 6Be displayed an interesting analgesic profile in the acetic acid-induced abdominal contractions test. Based on the results of the carrageenan-hind paw edema test, compound 6Af showed potential anti-inflammatory activity.

Ultrasound examination is the modality of choice for imaging most of the conditions of the groin and scrotal area in the pediatric population. Along with the more commonly known benefits of ultrasound as a fast, less expensive, noninvasive examination without radiation, readily available and reproducible, sonography of the groin and scrotum demonstrates high levels of specificity, sensitivity, and overall diagnostic accuracy. Ultrasound provides excellent anatomic detail and serves as an important and tremendously helpful imaging modality in all types of pediatric scrotal pathology.
Vulvar involvement in pediatric Crohnâs disease: a systematic review
2018
Purpose: The aim of the study is to report a systematic review (from 2000 to 2017) of all pediatric cases of vulvar Crohnâs disease (VCD) and to highlight the key-points for a correct diagnosis and management of this rare condition. Methods: An electronic search using the Pubmed/Medline, Scopus, EMBASE, Cochrane database and Google Scholar database was performed according to PRISMA guidelines. Results: Twenty pediatric studies and 22 cases of VCD were included for analysis. All the articles reported a single case, except two articles where two cases, respectively, are described. Clinical vulvar examination showed the following main manifestations: vulvar erythema (9/22 cases, 40.9%), vulv…
