Note: A non-invasive electronic measurement technique to measure the embedded four resistive elements in a Wheatstone bridge sensor

2015

The work shows a measurement technique to obtain the correct value of the four elements in a resistive Wheatstone bridge without the need to separate the physical connections existing between them. Two electronic solutions are presented, based on a source-and-measure unit and using discrete electronic components. The proposed technique brings the possibility to know the mismatching or the tolerance between the bridge resistive elements and then to pass or reject it in terms of its related common-mode rejection. Experimental results were taken in various Wheatstone resistive bridges (discrete and magnetoresistive integrated bridges) validating the proposed measurement technique specially whe…

Study of a Novel High Permeability Ferrite Sheet Intended for Near Field Communication Systems

2019

The reduction of embedded portable devices involves a magnetic field interference problem when it integrates Near Field Communication (NFC) due to the presence of conductive surfaces such as ground planes, batteries or metallic enclosures. This contribution is focused on analyzing the ability of an innovative magnetic shielding based on flexible sintered ferrite sheets (FSFS) with the aim of improving the performance of that kind of systems. Thereby, a NFC emitter antenna is characterized when it is close to a conductive surface through an electromagnetic (EM) scanner. The EM scanner composed by a matrix of near field probes that make it possible to determine the effectiveness of the FSFS. …

TCO/Ag/TCO transparent electrodes for solar cells application

2014

Among transparent electrodes, transparent conductive oxides (TCO)/metal/TCO structures can achieve optical and electrical performances comparable to, or better than, single TCO layers and very thin metallic films. In this work, we report on thin multilayers based on aluminum zinc oxide (AZO), indium tin oxide (ITO) and Ag deposited by RF magnetron sputtering on soda lime glass at room temperature. The TCO/Ag/TCO structures with thicknesses of about 50/10/50 nm were deposited with all combinations of AZO and ITO as top and bottom layers. While the electrical conductivity is dominated by the Ag intralayer irrespective of the TCO nature, the optical transmissions show a dependence on the natur…

Experimental investigations of local stochastic resistive switching in yttria stabilized zirconia film on a conductive substrate

2020

We report on the results of the experimental investigations of the local resistive switching (RS) in the contact of a conductive atomic force microscope (CAFM) probe to a nanometer-thick yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) film on a conductive substrate under a Gaussian noise voltage applied between the probe and the substrate. The virtual memristor was found to switch randomly between the low resistance state and the high resistance state as a random telegraph signal (RTS). The potential profile of the virtual memristor calculated from its response to the Gaussian white noise shows two local minima, which is peculiar of a bistable nonlinear system.

Hybrid molecular conductors

2005

One of the most important trends in the field of organic conductors aims towards the design of hybrid materials, following the strategy of combining in a single compound organic cationic radicals able to give rise to conducting architectures with functional molecular anions able to add a second physical property of interest. Ferromagnetic metals, magnetic superconductors, chiral conductors and switchable conductors are some of the most recent and spectacular materials obtained from this approach. The design and physical studies of some relevant examples are discussed and highlighted.

An analysis methodology to evaluate the contribution to electrical security given by bare buried conductors in a system of intertied earthing grids

2004

The paper presents an analysis methodology for a single-line-to-ground fault, occurring at a secondary MV/LV substation in a power network formed by a HV/MV station, feeding, through a MV tri-phase cable line, N MV/LV substations whose earth electrodes are interconnected by bare buried conductors. In the preliminary explanation of the methodology, earth buried conductors are studied in their double function of earth electrodes and connection elements between earthing grids, both in absence and in presence of other interfering conductors. Subsequently analyzed is, with a distributed parameters approach, the system constituted by an earth buried conductor and a MV tri-phase cable line. The eq…

Novel method for functionalising and patterning textile composites:Liquid resin print

2016

Abstract The paper reports a novel method of integrating resin into continuous textile reinforcement. The method presents a print of liquid reactive resin into textile preforms. A series of targeted injections forms a patch which upon consolidation and curing transforms into a stiff region continuously spanning through preform thickness. Enhancing the injected resin with conductive phase allows creating a pattern of patches with controlled dimensions and added functionalities. Patterned composites reveal features which are not typical for conventional composites such as fibre bridged interfaces, regular thickness variation, and gradient matrix properties. The presented study explores the ro…

An ultrathin suspended hydrophobic porous membrane for high-efficiency water desalination

2017

Abstract An ultrathin highly fluorinated porous membrane was designed for a large production of desalted water at very low energy consumption. Imprinting water droplets were used through a low thermally conductive tetra-fluoroethylene (TFE)/2,2,4-trifluoro-5-tri-fluorometoxy-1,3-dioxol (TIT) (HYFLON AD 60) solution and the generated porous nanofilm was suspended onto a polyethersulfone (PES) honeycomb texture. The very tiny fluorinated thickness together with a large number of small-shaped pores provided the membrane for enhanced anti-wetting surface properties, extremely reduced resistance to water vapor transfer and outstanding thermal efficiency. Fine materials structure-transport relati…

2004

A cooperative spin transition behaviour with a wide hysteresis loop (30 K) around 240 K has been observed, for the first time, in a salt based on the redox active [Ni(dmit)2]¯, anion and the [Fe(sal2-trien)]+ spin crossover cation. Real Cabezos, Jose Antonio, Jose.A.Real@uv.es
