Cation exchange-based post-processing of 68Ga-eluate: A comparison of three solvent systems for labelling of DOTATOC, NO2APBP and DATAm

2014

Interest in (68)Ga has led to a number of innovations for its provision suitable for clinical application. Several post-processing methods are available to reduce eluate volume and remove metal trace impurities. In this work three cation exchange resin based post-processing methods (acetone, ethanol and NaCl) have been compared, using three model precursors (DOTATOC, NO2AP(BP) and DATA(m)), in terms of labelling yield and reproducibility. The acetone and ethanol based methods provided greater reproducibility and yields that makes subsequent purification unnecessary.

Solvent Selection in Liquid Chromatography

2013

Abstract Many solvents can be used to prepare mobile phases in liquid chromatography. Also, mixtures of solvents at different ratios are used to modify the mobile phase properties. This can make solvent selection for method development a hard task, unless suitable guidelines are followed. This chapter summarizes the most common strategies used by skilled chromatographists in reversed-phase, normal-phase, and hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography. These are based on considerations about the global polarity of solutes, stationary phase and mobile phase, which determine the elution strength, and on the particular profile of the contributions of intermolecular interactions to the global…

Extension of GPC Techniques

1971

Abstract Most of the common GPC gels exhibit pore sizes which are too small to separate very extended molecules, e.g., native cellulose in solution. Several gel types were tested with vinyl polymers of molecular weights up to 107 and with cellulose nitrate. Large pore size Styragel with acetone as solvent proved to be the most favorable gel system yielding effective separations for polymers with coil diameters in solution up to 4000 A. The evaluation of GPC runs usually requires a separate calibration procedure. We attempted to determine the molecular weight of the eluate directly as it leaves the column. This is done by a special automatic viscometer that allows measurement of the viscosit…

Dispersive solid-phase extraction based on oleic acid-coated magnetic nanoparticles followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry for UV-filter de…

2011

Abstract A sensitive analytical method to concentrate and determine extensively used UV filters in cosmetic products at (ultra)trace levels in water samples is presented. The method is based on a sample treatment using dispersive solid-phase extraction (dSPE) with laboratory-made chemisorbed oleic acid-coated cobalt ferrite (CoFe 2 O 4 @oleic acid) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as optimized sorbent for the target analytes. The variables involved in dSPE were studied and optimized in terms of sensitivity, and the optimum conditions were: mass of sorbent, 100 mg; donor phase volume, 75 mL; pH, 3; and sodium chloride concentration, 30% (w/v). After dSPE, the MNPs were eluted twice with 1.5 mL …

Poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate-based solid-phase extraction for determination of sulfonamides in meat samples

2020

Abstract In this work, a sorbent based on poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) polymer has been synthesized for solid-phase extraction (SPE) of sulfonamides (sulfaguanidine, sulfadiazine, sulfathiazole, sulfapyridine, sulfamethazine, sulfamonomethoxine, sulfamethoxazole, sulfisoxazole) from different meat matrices, which were subsequently determined by HPLC-DAD. Several extraction parameters such as loading and elution solvents as well as other variables (loading capacity, breakthrough volume and reusability) influencing on the analytical performance of the sorbent were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, the developed method was successfully applied to determine the eight sulfonam…

Methylone determination in oral fluid using microextraction by packed sorbent coupled to ion mobility spectrometry

2020

Abstract A methodology based on microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) followed by ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has been developed for the simple and automated determination of methylone in oral fluids. MEPS was carried out using a 100 µL eVol® XR hand-held automated analytical syringe filled with octadecyl silica sorbent. The effect of main experimental parameters of MEPS such as sample pH and ionic strength, number of aspirating/dispensing cycles, and elution solvent was studied to obtain a quantitative extraction of methylone. Oral fluid samples were spiked with methylone at different concentration levels from 50 to 400 µg L−1 and analyzed by the proposed MEPS-IMS procedure, giving …

Dispersive micro-solid phase extraction

2019

Abstract Dispersive micro-solid phase extraction (D-μSPE) has gained special attention in the sample preparation process due to its simplicity, speed and efficiency. Different dispersion approaches have been used within this technique to allow a close contact between the sorbent and the donor sample solution during the entrapping step, but also between the sorbent and the solvent in the elution step. This dispersion favors the kinetics of both sorption and elution and therefore increases the efficiency of the overall extraction procedure. This technique boasts of high versatility owing to the great variety of solids available, covering a high range of chemical functionalities. This article …

A hybrid nano-MOF/polymer material for trace analysis of fluoroquinolones in complex matrices at microscale by on-line solid-phase extraction capilla…

2021

Abstract A hybrid material (nano-metal organic framework@organic polymer, named as nano-MOF@polymer) was applied for the first time as sorbent for on-line solid-phase extraction capillary electrophoresis with ultraviolet detection (SPE-CE-UV). The resulting material was prepared building layer-by-layer a HKUST-1 (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology-1) nano-MOF onto the polymer surface, which allowed controlling the thickness and maximizing the active surface area. The sorbent was widely characterized at micro- and nano-scale to validate the synthesis and to establish the material properties. Then, fritless microcartridges (2 mm) were assembled by packing only a few micrograms of …

Quantitative Prediction of Concentration Effects in Steric Exclusion Chromatography

1986

Abstract A semiempirical model, based on a previous one quantitatively describing the dependence of the elution volume, V(cA), on the concentration of injected polymer, cA, in exclusion chromatography (SEC) at dilute solutions, has been developed. In the derived equation, concentration effects are mainly governed by the Huggins' coefficient, kA, and by the quadratic coefficient in the polynomial expansion of the reduced specific viscosity, kA. Because of the incertitudes on reliable kA and kA' values, these are respectively removed from the model through she Imai's equation and the empirical correlation kA' + 0.122=kA, here obtained. Thus, A predicted elution volumes besides polymer concent…

Updating chromatographic predictions by accounting ageing for single and tandem columns.

2018

The most efficient optimization methodologies in liquid chromatography are based on the modeling and prediction of the chromatographic behavior for each compound in the sample. However, when the column suffers some ageing after the modeling process, predictions may differ significantly from the actual separation. Repeating the modeling is especially troublesome when several columns are involved, as is the case of coupled columns. We propose a shortcut to correct the time and peak profiles in these situations, after evaluating the effects of ageing. The original models are corrected by introducing parameters accounting for column ageing, obtained using the data of a small subset of compounds…
