Abstract In this paper we present a student module modeling knowledge states and learning skills of students in the field of Newtonian dynamics. Student data recorded during the exploratory activity in microworlds are used to infer mental representations concerning the concept of force. A fuzzy algorithm able to follow the cognitive states the student goes through in solving a task and to interpret the monitored changes is discussed.

This paper presents a method for analyzing human conceptions related to e-learning, based on positioning data on what is called here a learning matrix. The set of dimensions comprising the matrix distinguish between emphasis on individuality and sociality in learning, between viewing learning as knowledge adoption and as knowledge construction, and between viewing learning as subjective and as objective to time. The aim of this chapter is to provide the theoretical background for the concept of pronunciation, its pedagogical aspects, and selected factors affecting its acquisition. In the following section an array of definitions of pronunciation will be presented in order to provide a broad perspective. This will be followed by a diachronic overview of approaches to pronunciation teaching and learning, in order to present the pedagogical background. Subsequently, the chapter will address current issues linked to aspects of pronunciation and factors affecting pronunciation acquisition.

Burnout is nowadays a common problem among employees, and a new approach to reduce its extent is needed. This study looked at burnout interventions in terms of personal goals and/or projects. These represent what individuals are striving to achieve, and include work-related goals. Our aim was to examine the extent to which two kinds of burnout intervention, in the form of different types of psychotherapy, influence employees’ personal projects. In the prevention of eating disorders, many programmes have proved partly successful in using cognitive techniques to combat such risk factors. Abstract PERVAL (PERceived VALue) scale has been frequently replicated and adapted in tourism to measure consumer value; however, EVS (Experiential Value Scale) better reflects the experiential nature of tourism consumption. ABSTRACTResearch on consumer behavior has supported the usefulness of the experiential approach to explain shopping and consumption in the context of retailing. The present article aims at assessing the soundness of an extended experiential value concept for segmenting apparel retail customers in terms of their loyalty toward the store. A CHAID algorithm based on a sample of postrecession Spanish apparel retail customers has identified three segments of customers with differentiated levels of loyalty toward the store: play (emotional value) and ethics (altruistic value) are the most relevant variables for defining these segments.
