Photooxidations of Alkenes in Fluorinated Constrained Media: Fluoro-organically Modified NaY as Improved Reactors for Singlet Oxygen “Ene” Reactions

Creating a stationary fluorinated environment inside the zeolite cavity can increase the reactivity observed for intrazeolite photooxidation of alkenes. Exchanging the zeolite with fluorinated organic cations is a much more effective strategy than simply using a fluorinated solvent for slurry irradiations. Use of cations containing C-F bonds is also more efficient than use of deuterated cations for creation of a singlet oxygen friendly environment where the quenching processes are slowed down. Doping the zeolite with fluoro-organic cation 4 resulted in an increase in the singlet oxygen lifetime to 12 micros.
Application of Silsesquioxanes in the Preparation of Polyolefin-Based Materials

This paper is a review of studies on the use of the polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) of various structures in the synthesis of polyolefins and the modification of their properties, namely: (1) components of organometallic catalytic systems for the polymerization of olefins, (2) comonomers in the copolymerization with ethylene, and (3) fillers in composites based on polyolefins. In addition, studies on the use of new silicon compounds, i.e., siloxane–silsesquioxane resins, as fillers for composites based on polyolefins are presented. The authors dedicate this paper to Professor Bogdan Marciniec on the occasion of his jubilee.
An easy access to fused chromanones via rhodium catalyzed oxidative coupling of salicylaldehydes with heterobicyclic olefins

Abstract Herein we describe a detailed study on the rhodium catalyzed oxidative coupling of salicylaldehydes with heterobicyclic olefins such as diazabicyclic olefins and urea-derived bicyclic olefins. The developed method provides an ideal route to fused chromanone systems in a single synthetic step. Moreover, the scope of this methodology was extended to different oxa/aza-bridged bicyclic urea derivatives.

Lipschitz Carnot-Carathéodory Structures and their Limits

AbstractIn this paper we discuss the convergence of distances associated to converging structures of Lipschitz vector fields and continuously varying norms on a smooth manifold. We prove that, under a mild controllability assumption on the limit vector-fields structure, the distances associated to equi-Lipschitz vector-fields structures that converge uniformly on compact subsets, and to norms that converge uniformly on compact subsets, converge locally uniformly to the limit Carnot-Carathéodory distance. Tämän kvalitatiivisen tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää ahvenanmaalaisten kieliasenteita suomen kieltä kohtaan sekä millainen on yleinen käsitys ahvenmaalaisten kielellisestä identiteetistä kahdessa suurimmassa ahvenanmaalaisessa paikallislehdessä. Materiaali koostuu 64 erilaisesta mielipide- ja pääkirjoitusartikkelista, jotka on julkaistu 1.1.2007 – 31.12.2012 Nya Åland ja Ålandstidningen -lehdissä. Tutkimusmetodina käytettiin sisällönanalyysia ja diskurssianalyysiä. Counterintuitive Mechanisms of the Addition of Hydrogen and Simple Olefins to Heavy Group 13 Alkene Analogues

The mechanism of the reaction of olefins and hydrogen with dimetallenes ArMMAr (Ar = aromatic group; M = Al or Ga) was studied by density functional theory calculations and experimental methods. The digallenes, for which the most experimental data are available, are extensively dissociated to gallanediyl monomers, :GaAr, in hydrocarbon solution, but the calculations and experimental data showed also that they react with simple olefins, such as ethylene, as intact ArGaGaAr dimers via stepwise [2 + 2 + 2] cycloadditions due to their considerably lower activation barriers vis-à-vis the gallanediyl monomers, :GaAr. Tämän tutkielman tarkoitus oli tutkia ruotsi äidinkielenä opetusta lukion pakollisilla kursseilla Suomessa kirjallisten ja suullisten taitojen näkökulmista. Tarkoituksenani oli selvittää, mitä opettajat painottavat opetuksessa, millaisia tehtäviä, työskentelymenetelmiä ja työskentelytapoja he käyttävät. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin kyselylomakkeella, joka lähetettiin kahdelle opettajalle ruotsinkieliseen lukioon Suomessa. Materiaali analysoitiin kvalitatiivisena tapaustutkimuksena. Kyselyyn vastanneet opettajat pitivät tärkeimpänä kielen mukauttamista tekstityyppiin. He painottivat taitoa osata kirjoittaa erilaisia tekstejä.
