Balance with logic-measuring the performance and sustainable development efforts of an NPO in rural Ethiopia.

2021

The analysis of performance of Not-for-profit organisations (NPOs) is difficult because there are several objectives and perspectives to NPO performance and accountability, especially if considered sustainably and in long term. This suggests that performance analysis and measurement of NPOs might also involve multiple perspectives, such as in Balanced Scorecard (BSC) or in the Logical Framework (LF) models. This article is a case study of analysing the sustainable development and performance of an NPO in rural Ethiopia. We propose the Logic Balanced Scorecard (LBSC) model that combines elements of BSC and LF. This proposal was preliminarily used and tested in a five-year interventionist acc…

Marihuānas un tās dekriminalizēšanas rāmējumi Latvijas interneta mediju publikācijās un lietotāju komentāros 2011. - 2017. gadam

2018

2022

Volframa pārklājumu termiska modificēšana detektēšanai ar infrasarkanās spektrometrijas metodi. Goldmane A. E., zinātniskā vadītāja, pētniece, Avotiņa L. Bakalaura darbs, 36 lpp, 15 attēli, 4 tabulas, 56 literatūras avoti, 6 pielikumi. Latviešu valodā. Pusvadītāju tehnoloģijas mūsdienās lieto dažāda veida elektronikai. Materiālu atbilstību parametriem nosaka ražošanas gaitā – nepieciešams izstrādāt metodoloģiju to izvērtēšanai.

Direct Identification of Each Specific Mutation in Codon 12 and 13 of ci-ki-ras2 by SSCP Analysis

1998

We compared the SSCP behaviour of the DNA fragments containing c-ki-ras 2 wild type 12 and 13 codons or each of the 12 possible point mutated sequences in these two codons. We found that a single electrophoresis condition was sufficient to distinguish each specific mutation from the other 11 and from the wild type sequence. This observation makes it possible to identify each specific mutation directly by SSCP without any need for reamplification and sequencing.

Estratificación del riesgo de pacientes con dolor torácico sin elevación del segmento ST en la puerta de urgencias

2003

Objectives. To investigate the prognostic factors in patients who come to the emergency room with chest pain but without ST segment elevation. Patients and method. 743 consecutive patients were evaluated by recording clinical history, electrocardiogram and troponin I determination, and early (< 24 h) exercise testing was done for the low-risk subgroup of patients (n = 203). All patients were followed during 3 months for major events (acute myocardial infarction or death). Results. Major events occurred in 71 patients (9.6%). Multivariate analysis (C stadistic = 0.79; 95% CI 0.730.84; p = 0.0001) identified the following predictors: age ≥ 72 years (OR = 1.7; 95% CI, 1.0-2.9; p = 0.05), insul…

The ATC1 gene encodes a cell wall-linked acid trehalase required for growth on trehalose in Candida albicans.

2004

After screening a Candida albicans genome data base, the product of an open reading frame (IPF 19760/CA2574) with 41% identity to Saccharomyces cerevisiae vacuolar acid trehalase (Ath1p) was identified and named Atc1p. The deduced amino acid sequence shows that Atc1p contains an N-terminal hydrophobic signal peptide and 20 potential sites for N-glycosylation. C. albicans homozygous mutants that lack acid trehalase activity were constructed by gene disruption at the two ATC chromosomal alleles. Analysis of these null mutants shows that Atc1p is localized in the cell wall and is required for growth on trehalose as a carbon source. An Atc1p endowed with acid trehalase activity was obtained by …

A DNA region ofTorulaspora delbrueckii containing theHIS3 gene: sequence, gene order and evolution

2003

We cloned a genomic DNA fragment of the yeast Torulaspora delbrueckii by complementation of a Saccharomyces cerevisiae his3 mutant strain. DNA sequence analysis revealed that the fragment contained two complete ORFs, which share a high similarity with S. cerevisiae His3p and Mrp51p, respectively. The cloned TdHIS3 gene fully complemented the his3 mutation of S. cerevisiae, confirming that it encodes for the imidazoleglycerol-phosphate dehydrate of T. delbrueckii. Two additional ORFs, with a high homology to S. cerevisiae PET56 and DED1 genes, were mapped upstream and downstream from TdHIS3 and TdMRP51, respectively. This genetic organization is analogous to that previously found in Saccharo…

A genomic study of the inter-ORF distances in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

2006

The genome of eukaryotic microbes is usually quite compacted. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is one of the best-known examples. Open reading frames (ORFs) occupy about 75% of the total DNA sequence. The existence of other, non-protein coding genes and other genetic elements leaves very little space for gene promoters and terminators. We have performed an in silico study of inter-ORF distances that shows that there is a minimum distance between two adjacent ORFs that depends on the relative orientation between them. Our analyses suggest that different kinds of promoters and terminators exist with regard to their length and ability to overlap each other. The experimental testing of some p…

Registration of arbitrary multi-view 3D acquisitions

2013

International audience; To register 3D meshes representing smooth surfaces we track the 3D digitization system using photogrammetric techniques and calibrations. We present an example by digitizing a 800 mm x 600 mm portion of a car door. To increase the tracking accuracy the 3D scanner is placed in a cubic frame of side 0.5 m covered with 78 targets. The target frame moves in a volume that is approximately 1100 mm x 850 mm x 900 mm, to digitize the area of interest. Using four cameras this target frame is tracked with of an accuracy of 0.03 mm spatially and 0.180 mrad angularly. A registration accuracy between 0.1 mm and 2 mm is reached. This method can be used for the registration of mesh…
