The role of physical activity in the link between menopausal status and mental well-being
2020
OBJECTIVE To examine the relationship between menopausal status and mental well-being, and whether this relationship varies as a function of physical activity (PA). METHODS Based on a hormonal analysis and bleeding diary, women aged 47 to 55 were categorized as pre (n = 304), early peri (n = 198), late peri (n = 209), or postmenopausal (n = 387). Mental well-being was assessed using the Centre for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, the International Positive and Negative Affect Schedule Short Form, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. PA was self-reported and categorized as low, medium, and high. Associations between variables were analyzed using multivariate linear regression adjuste…
Ship-in-a-bottle synthesis of triphenylamine inside faujasite supercages and generation of the triphenylamminium radical ion
2005
Abstract The ship-in-a-bottle synthesis of triphenylamine encapsulated within basic X zeolite has been accomplished by reacting sodium diphenylamide with bromobenzene in the presence of a bifunctional palladium (Hartwig–Buchwald conditions). The presence of incarcerated triphenylamine was demonstrated by dissolving the zeolite with concentrated HF and analyzing the organic material in the dichloromethane extract. Laser flash photolysis (266 nm) gives rise to the generation of triphenylamminium radical cation detected as a transient species decaying in hundreds of microseconds. Upon repetitive cyclic voltammograms, zeolite encapsulated triphenylamine shows a reversible oxidation–reduction pr…
TID and SEE Tests of an Advanced 8 Gbit NAND-Flash Memory
2008
We report on the dose and operational mode dependence of error percentage, stand-by current, erase and write time of 8 Gbit / 4 Gbit NAND-flash memories as well as on their static, dynamic and SEFI cross sections.
Flash floods in Mediterranean ephemeral streams in Valencia Region (Spain)
2016
Summary Ephemeral streams are typical Mediterranean fluvial systems with high risk of flash flooding, and few data are available about these systems in most locales. However, the SAIH network (Automatic Hydrological Information Systems) of the Jucar River Water Authority has been providing detailed information about ephemeral streams in Spain every 5 min since 1988. Using these data, we evaluated the processes of rainfall–runoff conversion and flood generation in five Mediterranean ephemeral streams ranging in size from 25 to 450 km 2 . To provide a general framework for hydrological analysis, the study included 142 flash flood events registered between 1989 and 2007. A more detailed analys…
Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory for observation of early photons from gamma ray bursts
2012
We describe the space project of Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory (UFFO) which will observe early optical photons from gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) with a sub-second optical response, for the first time. The UFFO will probe the early optical rise of GRBs, opening a completely new frontier in GRB and transient studies, using a fast response Slewing Mirror Telescope (SMT) that redirects optical path to telescope instead of slewing of telescopes or spacecraft. In our small UFFO-Pathfinder experiment, scheduled to launch aboard the Lomonosov satellite in 2012, we use a motorized mirror in our Slewing Mirror Telescope instrument to achieve less than one second optical response after X-ray trigger. We des…

Photochemical behavior in azobenzene having acidic groups. Preparation of magnetic photoresponsive gels
2011
[EN] The photochemistry of three azobenzenes representing contrasting photochemical behaviors is described in the present work. Thus, Methyl Orange (MO, 4-[[(4-dimethylamino)phenyl]-azo]benzenesulfonic acid sodium salt, hereinafter (1) and 4-hydroxyazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid (2) undergo in water fast photochemical proton shift, with decays in the microsecond timescale. In contrast to the previous cases, azobenzene-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid (3) undergoes photoisomerization in water. This photochemical behavior allows the preparation of aqueous gels with Aerosil as gelating agent (5% weight) exhibiting high cyclability and photoreversible isomerization of the trans to cis (300 nm irradiation) a…
Helium gas pressure cell for pressures up to 1 kbar (0.1 GPa) in conjunction with the cold head of a closed-cycle He refrigerator
1997
A helium gas pressure cell for pressures up to 1 kbar (0.1 GPa) has been developed in conjunction with a closed-cycle He refrigerator allowing variable temperatures between 15 and 300 K. Both cell and refrigerator are equipped with optical windows suitable for photophysical measurements, such as temperature- and pressure-dependent absorption spectroscopy or laser flash photolysis. Examples of measurements on iron(II) spin-crossover systems are given. In these compounds, comparatively small external pressures induce significant changes in the thermodynamic equilibrium as well as in the relaxation dynamics.
Compact instrumentation for radiation tolerance test of flash memories in space environment
2010
Aim of this work is the description of a test equipment, designed to be integrated on board of a microsatellite, able to investigate the radiation tolerance of non-volatile memory arrays in a real flight experiment. An FPGA-based design was adopted to preserve a high flexibility degree. Besides standard Program/Read/Erase functions, additional features such as failure data screening and latch-up protection have been implemented. The instrument development phase generated, as a by-product, a non-rad-hard version of the instrument that allowed performing in-situ experiments using 60Co and 10 MeV Boron irradiation facilities on Ground. Preliminary measurement results are reported to show the i…
