Oxidation of adrenaline and noradrenaline by solved molecular oxygen in a FIA assembly.

2002

A simple and effective procedure is proposed for the study and simultaneous determination of adrenaline and noradrenaline. The fluorimetric determination of both substances is performed in a flow injection assembly and by oxidation of both drugs with the solved molecular oxygen. The influence of different parameters is empirically studied and the interpretation of the reaction mechanism is also added. The determination of adrenaline is monitored at 450 nm and the outputs at 520 nm correspond to the adrenaline and noradrenaline global amount; for both lectures lambda(exc) 329 nm. The influence of temperature is relevant and analytical determination occurred at 55 degrees C by immersing the s…

Some observations on the automation by flow injection analysis of the spectrophotometric determination of amino acids and proteins witho-phthalaldehy…

1992

Automation by flow injection analysis with Spectrophotometric detection of the determination of total amino acids and proteins witho-phthalaldehyde is not straightforward. The use of spectrophotometry, instead of spectrofluorimetry, and of N-acetyl-L-cysteine, instead of the conventional mercaptoethanol is advantageous because of the lower variability of absorptivities with respect to fluorescence yields, and the larger stability of the derivatives. Under adequate working conditions and with leucine as reference, the procedure can be used for the evaluation of total amino acids. A similar procedure is proposed for the analysis of proteins in a sample. Limits of detection are ≈ 1 × 10−5M for…

Mechanism of porous core electroosmotic pump flow injection system and its application to determination of chromium(VI) in waste-water.

1999

An electroosmotic pump flow injection system is introduced in this paper. According to electroosmotic theory, the pump's properties were described. A large flow range (mul min(-1)-ml min(-1)), moderate carrier pressure (0.15 MPa), reduced performance voltage (500 V) and stable flow rate (RSD3.0% in 4 h) are the main properties of the pump. NH(4)OH (0.35 mM) was used as carrier for improving the pump's flow stability. The electroosmotic efficiency of the pump's medium, porous core, can be recovered and regenerated. A sandwich zone was used for sample and reagent introduction in order to adapt to the pump performance. Flow injection-spectrophotometry was employed for the determination of Cr(V…

Flow-Injection Solid Phase Partial Least-Squares Spectrophotometric Simultaneous Determination of Iron, Nickel and Zinc

2002

A PLS-2 multivariate calibration method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of iron, nickel and zinc in ternary mixtures by solid phase spectrophotometry associated with flow injection analysis. Fe(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) form color complexes with 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthol (TAN), immobilized on a C18 bonded silica support, at pH 6.4. The proposed procedure is based on the different reaction/retention ratios of the studied ions on the solid support. Bilinear spectrophotometric data of the analytes, fixed in the solid support, were recorded in the 400-800 nm wavelength range as a function of time and a partial least squares (PLS-2) algorithm was used to predict results of…

Fluorimetric determination of captopril by flow injection analysis

1991

A flow injection analysis procedure is proposed for the determination of captopril. The sample solution was directly injected into the carrier-reagent stream which was prepared by a solution of ceric ions in 0.25 M sulfuric acid. The procedure is based on the fluorimetric monitoring of the formed Ce(III). Chemical, FIA, and instrumental parameters were optimized and the procedure is applied to the captopril determination in pharmaceutical formulations with competitive precision and adequate accuracy.

Flow-injection analysis study of the chemiluminescent behaviour of proflavine and acriflavine

2001

Abstract The chemiluminescent behaviour of the amino acridines like acriflavine, and proflavin is reported. Different strong oxidants (potassium permanganate, cerium(IV), hexacyanoferrate(III), hydrogen peroxide in different media) were tested, and potassium permanganate in sulphuric acid medium was selected. The study of the experimental parameters affecting the oxidation and detection was performed with the aid of a FIA assembly. The calibration graph was applied over the range 0.05–12.0 μg ml −1 of acriflavine (regression coefficient 0.9957, and the calculated relative standard deviation (R.S.D., %) was 0.9; LOD 10 ng ml −1 and the sample throughput 48 h −1 . The study of interfering com…

Standard addition method in FIA. Comparison between different assemblies

1999

A comparison between the different proposed methods to perform the standard addition in an on-line way (flow injection analysis) is made. The different assemblies (reverse and conventional FIA) and the employed standards in every method are compared. Three analyses were carried out, two of them were analyses of samples of pH indicators (methylorange and chlorophenol red) prepared at an acid pH, while the standards were prepared at a basic pH. The third analysis was the analysis of chloride in different synthetic waters with a perfectly known composition for all the ions present in the samples. Besides a new method to perform the on-line standard addition is proposed, trying to reduce the co…

Mid-infrared and Raman spectrometry for quality control of pesticide formulations

2005

This article deals with recent developments in the use of vibrational spectrometry for the quantitative analysis of active components in commercial pesticide formulations. We review the techniques, such as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and FT-Raman spectrometries, and measurement modes, such as stopped flow or flow injection. FTIR is being used increasingly in the determination of pesticides in agrochemical products because of its relatively short analysis time. However, FT-Raman spectrometry provides direct analysis of solid and aqueous samples. It is therefore clear that these techniques enable fast, non-destructive, precise and accurate measurements, so vibrational spectrometry appea…
