The Big Five Traits and Their Ramifications

This chapter focuses on the analysis of the Big Five traits, discussed in relation to the classical and modern views on the trait hierarchy. In the next section the socioaffective, cognitive and educational, as well as behavioural ramifications of each trait are outlined in order to create a general background for the analysis of the Big Five in the foreign language learning context. In the light of the above considerations, each trait appears to have beneficial, and also negative effects for the individual’s functioning. Finally, a discussion of age and gender differences in the Big Five, and their development across the lifespan is offered.

In 2017, in Sicily, the minors are 7.937. The island is the main region that hosts migrants and where 40,9% of the Unaccompanied Foreign Minors are present. The analysis proposes a reflection on the difficulties encountered by minors in the new country and on the contradictions that come from the different meaning that age, as a conceptual category and as the organizational principle of society, has for the social actors involved.

Personality Traits and Foreign Policy Attitudes in German Public Opinion

This article examines the effects of personality traits on attitudes toward foreign policy issues among the German public. Building on previous research, it argues that personality characteristics shape an individual's motivation, goals, and values, thereby providing criteria to evaluate external stimuli and affecting foreign policy opinions. An analysis of survey data from a random sample of Germans eligible to vote confirms that the personality traits play a role in attitudes toward foreign policy issues. Foreign Direct Investment in oil-abundant countries: The role of institutions

The present work reassesses the impact of good governance and democracy on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in oil-abundant countries. To this end, we estimate the effect of host countries’ institutions on greenfield FDI, using a gravity equation for a dataset that covers 182 countries during 2003-2012. Our findings confirm that compliance to rule of law, lack of corruption, political stability and democracy could boost new FDI links through the extensive margin. Our results could not rule out the “oil curse”, meaning that oil producers attract fewer new greenfield projects than similar countries without oil. Purpose: To assess endograft infolding for excessive bird-beak configurations in the aortic arch in relation to hemodynamic variables by quantifying device displacement and rotation of oversized stent-grafts deployed in a phantom model. Methods: A patient-specific, compliant, phantom pulsatile flow model was reconstructed from a patient who presented with collapse of a Gore TAG thoracic endoprosthesis.
