Organocatalytic enantioselective functionalization of indoles in the carbocyclic ring with cyclic imines

[EN] An organocatalytic enantioselective functionalization in the carbocyclic ring of indoles with benzoxathiazine 2,2-dioxides is described using a quinine-derived bifunctional organocatalyst. This aza-Friedel-Crafts reaction provides 4-indolyl, 5-indolyl and 7-indolyl sulfamidate derivatives in good yields (up to 99%) and with moderate to high enantioselectivities (up to 86% ee).

[EN] An enantioselective photooxidative Mannich reaction of dihydroquinoxalinones with ketones by the merger of organophotoredox and asymmetric organocatalysis is described. This protocol features very mild reaction conditions using simple and cheap catalysts (Eosin Y and (S)-Proline) for the synthesis of chiral quinoxaline derivatives with good to high yields (up to 94%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee).

Mechanisms of the Development of Allergy (MeDALL), a Seventh Framework Program European Union project, aims to generate novel knowledge on the mechanisms of initiation of allergy. Precise phenotypes of IgE-mediated allergic diseases will be defined in MeDALL. As part of MeDALL, a scientific seminar was held on January 24, 2011, to review current knowledge on the IgE-related phenotypes and to explore how a multidisciplinary effort could result in a new integrative translational approach. However, among these and in swimmers at other activity levels the swimming distance, the total spent time in swimming halls and their medical background varies. EFFECTS OF ALLOPURINOL ON RENAL FUNCTION DECLINE IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASES

Aim: To evaluate retrospectively the effects of allopurinol treatment on renal function decline in non-gouty hypertensive patients with moderate-to-severe CKD. Methods: We selected 22 patients treated with allopurinol (A) (100–300 mg/die) that were compared with 44 subjects not treated with this drug (B), matched with A for estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), age, gender and blood pressure values. Results: After a mean follow-up period of 16 months no significant difference was observed between the two groups regarding eGFR decline (A: -6.8 ± 11.6 ml/min/1.73 m2; B: -4.2 ± 9.3 ml/min/1.73 m2). A net change: A fully reversible ligand substitution involving coordination/ uncoordination of gaseous water and pyrimidine induces the repetitive allosteric transformation of three interpenetrated nets into a single three-dimensional net. The transformation does not affect the crystallinity of the sample but alters significantly the spin-crossover transition; the compound shows magnetic and chromatic bistability (see picture).

Input of P, N-(phosphanyl, amino)-ferrocene hybrid derivatives in late transition metals catalysis

International audience; Unequally functionalized ferrocenes give access to valuable hemilabile reactivity in catalytic reaction. We address the synthesis of hybrid (P, N)-ferrocenyl compounds for which recent catalytic breakthrough applications have been reported, transversely in late transition metals chemistry. Palladium, nickel, rhodium, iridium, and emerging iron and gold catalysis are illustrated from selected examples, which include CC bond formation from cross-coupling and polymerization, allylic substitution, cyanation, hydroformylation, CH arylation and silylation and hydrogenation reactions.
Gabor systems and almost periodic functions

Abstract Inspired by results of Kim and Ron, given a Gabor frame in L 2 ( R ) , we determine a non-countable generalized frame for the non-separable space AP 2 ( R ) of the Besicovic almost periodic functions. Gabor type frames for suitable separable subspaces of AP 2 ( R ) are constructed. We show furthermore that Bessel-type estimates hold for the AP norm with respect to a countable Gabor system using suitable almost periodic norms of sequences.
