NO LATVIJAS NOTEKŪDEŅIEM JAUNIZDALĪTO AEROMONAS SALMONICIDA BAKTERIOFĀGU RAKSTUROŠANA

2022

Novel virocell metabolic potential revealed in agricultural soils by virus-enriched soil metagenome analysis

2021

International audience; Viruses are now recognized as important players in microbial dynamics and biogeochemical cycles in the oceans. Yet, compared with aquatic ecosystems, virus discovery in terrestrial ecosystems has been challenging partly due to the inherent complexity of soils. To expand our understanding of soil viruses and their putative contributions to soil microbial processes, we analysed metagenomes of community-level virus-enriched suspensions by tangential flow filtration obtained from two French agricultural soils. We found viral sequences representing a total of 239 viral operational taxonomic units that corresponded to 29.5% of the mapping reads in the metagenomic datasets.…

Genomic Signature in Evolutionary Biology: A Review

2023

Organisms are unique physical entities in which information is stored and continuously processed. The digital nature of DNA sequences enables the construction of a dynamic information reservoir. However, the distinction between the hardware and software components in the information flow is crucial to identify the mechanisms generating specific genomic signatures. In this work, we perform a bibliometric analysis to identify the different purposes of looking for particular patterns in DNA sequences associated with a given phenotype. This study has enabled us to make a conceptual breakdown of the genomic signature and differentiate the leading applications. On the one hand, it refers to gene …

Comparative analysis of variation and selection in the HCV genome

2016

AbstractGenotype 1 of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the most prevalent of the variants of this virus. Its two main subtypes, HCV-1a and HCV-1b, are associated to differences in epidemic features and risk groups, despite sharing similar features in most biological properties. We have analyzed the impact of positive selection on the evolution of these variants using complete genome coding regions, and compared the levels of genetic variability and the distribution of positively selected sites. We have also compared the distributions of positively selected and conserved sites considering different factors such as RNA secondary structure, the presence of different epitopes (antibody, CD4 and C…

Dimēriskas dCas9-FokI sistēmas izveidošana efektīvai zīdītāju šūnu genoma rekombinēšanai

2015

Functional impact and evolution of a novel human polymorphic inversion that disrupts a gene and creates a fusion transcript

2015

Despite many years of study into inversions, very little is known about their functional consequences, especially in humans. A common hypothesis is that the selective value of inversions stems in part from their effects on nearby genes, although evidence of this in natural populations is almost nonexistent. Here we present a global analysis of a new 415-kb polymorphic inversion that is among the longest ones found in humans and is the first with clear position effects. This inversion is located in chromosome 19 and has been generated by non-homologous end joining between blocks of transposable elements with low identity. PCR genotyping in 541 individuals from eight different human populatio…
