Effective mercury intrusion in a wedge-shaped slit is gradual, the intruded depth increasing with applied pressure. The Washburn equation must be modified accordingly. It relates the distance, e, separating the three-phase contact lines on the wedge faces to the hydrostatic pressure, P, wedge half-opening angle alpha, mercury surface tension gamma, and contact angle theta: e=(-2gamma/P)cos(theta-alpha) if theta-alpha>pi2. Dziļāko elpceļu slimības un akūts gastroenterīts ir galevnais cēlonis bērnu saslimšanai un mirstībai visā pasaulē. Arī Latvijas bērnu populācijā šīs slimības ir bieži sastopamas, tomēr ne vienmēr ir zināms šo slimību etioloģiskais aģents. Cilvēka bokavīruss (HBoV) ir 2005. gadā atklāts parvovīruss, ko saista ar elpceļu slimību un akūta gastroenterīta izraisīšanu bērniem. Šī pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot HBoV iesaisti dziļāko elpceļu slimību un akūta gastroenterīta patoģenēzē hospitalizētiem bērniem. Objective To assess Spanish and Portuguese patients’ and physicians’ preferences regarding type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treatments and the monthly willingness to pay (WTP) to gain benefits or avoid side effects. Methods An observational, multicenter, exploratory study focused on routine clinical practice in Spain and Portugal. Abstract This study analyzes the nature of money through the lens of the international principles of accounting and lays the foundations of what it calls the accounting view of money (AVM). Using international accounting principles, the AVM argues that the fiat monies issued by the state (typically, cash, banknotes, and central bank money) are not debt and that in fractional reserve regimes, only a share of commercial bank money can be regarded as debt. DENV vakcīnu izveide balstās galvenokārt, izmantojot dzīvus novājinātus vīrusus. 2015. gadā tika reģistrēta pirmā tetravalenta novājināta denges vīrusa vakcīna. Kā drošāks vakcīnas veids ir subvienību vakcīnas. Daudzsološākais DENV antigēns subvienību vakcīnas izveidē ir apvalka proteīna III domēns. Lai palielinātu antigēna subvienības imunogenitāti, tiek izmantotas vīrusveidīgās daļiņas (VLP) kā svešu antigēnu nesēji. Deletion and insertion mutants of HBsAg particles

We have found previously that hybrid 22-nm HBsAg particles can be created by insertion of short antigenic sequences into the HBV major envelope protein [1]. We have now performed a detailed deletion mutagenesis of the S gene of HBV encoding HBsAg. Deletion of the 51 C-terminal amino acids including most of the third and all of the fourth hydrophobic domain of the S protein did not affect particle assembly and secretion. However, secretion of 22-nm particles was abolished by minor deletions in the N-terminal region. Insertion and deletion/substitution mutants carrying a poliovirus epitope at the N-terminus and the preSl region at the C-terminus have been characterized.
