Vegetation of rock clefts and ledges in the Pamir Alai Mts, Tajikistan (Middle Asia)

2014

AbstractThe paper presents the results of phytosociological research conducted on the vegetation of rock clefts and ledges in the Pamir-Alai Mountains (Tajikistan, Middle Asia). During the field studies, done in 2010–2012, 101 phytosociological relevés were taken. Plant species were recorded according to the Braun-Blanquet cover-abundance scale. Communities of calcareous rock clefts and ledges with small soil amounts from several ranges (Zeravshan Mts, Hissar Mts, Hazratishokh Mts, Darvaz Mts, Rushan Mts and Vanch Mts), inhabiting mainly the alpine and subnival zone, have been described. A synopsis of the rock communities of the Pamir-Alai is proposed. In the examined vegetation plots 77 va…

Identification of pyrrolo[3',4':3,4]cyclohepta[1,2-d][1,2]oxazoles as promising new candidates for the treatment of lymphomas

2023

Unsatisfactory outcomes for relapsed/refractory lymphoma patients prompt continuing efforts to develop new therapeutic strategies. Our previous studies on pyrrole-based anti-lymphoma agents led us to synthesize a new series of twenty-six pyrrolo[3′,4':3,4]cyclohepta[1,2-d] [1,2]oxazole derivatives and study their antiproliferative effects against a panel of four non-Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines. Several candidates showed significant anti-proliferative effects, with IC50's reaching the sub-micromolar range in at least one cell line, with compound 3z demonstrating sub-micromolar growth inhibitory effects towards the entire panel. The VL51 cell line was the most sensitive, with an IC50 value of…

Development of [1,2]oxazoloisoindoles tubulin polymerization inhibitors: Further chemical modifications and potential therapeutic effects against lym…

2022

Lymphomas are among the ten most common cancers, and, although progress has been achieved in increasing survival, there is still an unmet need for more effective therapeutic approaches, including better options for patients with refractory tumors that initially respond but then relapse. The lack of effective alternative treatment options highlights the need to develop new therapeutic strategies capable of improving survival prospects for lymphoma patients. Herein, we describe the identification and exploration of the SAR of a series of [1,2]oxazolo[5,4-e]isoindoles as potent small molecules that bind to the colchicine site of tubulin and that have promise for the treatment of refractory lym…

Second European Multi-Disciplinary Conference of National Strategies for Chlamydia Trachomatis and Human Papillomavirus (NSCP Conference) in Berlin, …

2013

There is a need for updated guidance on detection, management and surveillance of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis reporting needs to be mandatory in more European countries to aid collection of data. More widespread Chlamydia screening is needed in many countries as this is the only way to reduce complications. The role of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) screening in a situation where the prevalence of HPV infection has dropped significantly was also discussed in the context of the high cost of screening, the need for a relatively complex infrastructure, particularly in developing countries, and falling vaccination costs. An integrated HPV vaccination …

Indole alkaloids from the coprophilous fungus Aphanoascus fulvescens

2019

Abstract The Ascomycete fungus Aphanoascus fulvescens isolated from goose dung was investigated for its secondary metabolites, yielding five new indole alkaloids okaramines V–Z (1–5) and eleven known derivatives (6–16). Their structures were determined by 1D, 2D NMR spectra and HRMS data. Compounds 6, 8, 11 and 12 showed significant to moderate cytotoxicity against the mouse lymphoma cell line L5178Y with IC50 values ranging from 4.0 to 14.7 μM. Preliminary structure-activity relationships are discussed.

Aaptamine Derivatives from the Indonesian Sponge Aaptos suberitoides

2013

Four new aaptamine derivatives (1-4) along with aaptamine (5) and three related compounds (6-8) were isolated from the ethanol extract of the sponge Aaptos suberitoides collected in Indonesia. The structures of the new compounds were unambiguously determined by one- and two-dimensional NMR and by HRESIMS measurements. Compounds 3, 5, and 6 showed cytotoxic activity against the murine lymphoma L5178Y cell line, with IC(50) values ranging from 0.9 to 8.3 μM.

Ircinal E, a New Manzamine Derivative from the Indonesian Marine Sponge Acanthostrongylophora ingens

2015

Chemical investigation of the MeOH extract of the sponge Acanthostrongylophora ingens afforded the new manzamine derivative ircinal E (1), in addition to six known metabolites (2–7). The structure of the new compound was unequivocally elucidated using one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, as well as high-resolution mass spectrometry. Compounds 1–6 exhibited strong to moderate cytotoxicity against the murine lymphoma L5178Y cell line with IC50 values ranging from 2.8 to 21.7 μM.

Metabolites from Combretum dolichopetalum and its associated endophytic fungus Nigrospora oryzae--Evidence for a metabolic partnership.

2015

Abstract A new altersolanol derivative, 4-dehydroxyaltersolanol A ( 9 ), along with two known sesquiterpenoids, ( S )-7′-hydroxyabscisic acid ( 7 ) and ( S )-abscisic acid ( 8 ) were obtained from the endophytic fungus, Nigrospora oryzae , isolated from leaves of Combretum dolichopetalum . The host plant yielded six known compounds including ellagic acid ( 1 ), 3, 3′, 4-tri-O-methylellagic acid ( 2 ), arjunolic acid ( 3 ), 4′-dihydrophaseic acid ( 4 ), echinulin ( 5 ) and arestrictin B ( 6 ). Close structural similarities with regard to compounds 4 , 7 and 8 were observed between the metabolites from the host plant and those of the endophytic fungus. Furthermore compounds 5 and 6 are relate…

Molecular diagnostic tools for the detection and characterization of Phoma tracheiphila

2011

In the recent years PCR-based techniques for the identification and detection of Phoma tracheiphila, the causal agent of citrus mal secco disease, have been evaluated aiming to provide tools for biological and epidemiological studies. A wide collection of P. tracheiphila strains was used to evaluate and validate diagnostic protocols and a fAFLP method for fungal characterization. Conventional and real-time PCR protocols were successfully tested for the specific identification of P. tracheiphila and its detection in planta. A further improvement of the real-time PCR protocol and the DNA extraction methods allowed the quantification of the fungus both from naturally infected and artificially …
