The Halide Binding Behavior of 2-Carbamoyl-7-ureido-1H-indoles: Conformational Aspects

2009

Indole-based anion receptors with an carboxamide unit in 2- and an urea in 7-position were prepared and found to bind halides (as well as acetate and nitrate) in chloroform solutions at room temperature. Investigations of the binding behaviour show that the receptor is selective for chloride. Surprisingly, the truncated receptor 3 without the 2-carbamoyl substituent shows the highest affinity for Cl–. Thorough 1H, 13C and 15N NMR investigations indicate different binding modes for acetate, nitrate and halides to the receptor 2. The observation of a major conformational change of this receptor during the binding of the halide ions leads to an understanding of the relative binding affinities …

Synthesis of 7-Pentafluorophenyl-1H-indole: An Anion Receptor for Anion–π Interactions

2014

7-Pentafluorophenyl-1H-indole has the potential to be a key compound for the investigation of anion–π interactions in solution. Unfortunately, it was not possible to obtain it by aryl–aryl coupling reaction. Finally, it has been prepared by Bartoli indole synthesis. The key compound as well as analogues were submitted to preliminary studies of anion binding. Single crystals of two key receptors were obtained.

The structural versatility of proton sponge bismuth halides

2022

Hybrid halometalates containing lead, tin, bismuth and antimony and organic cations have recently shown a bevy of interesting photophysical properties. Aiming at finding chemically stable and thermally inert species, three halobismutate species of this class, crystallized with proton sponge-derived cations (PRSH), have been isolated as microcrystalline powders by mixing 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)-naphthalene (proton sponge, or PRS) and bismuth oxide in concentrated HX acids (X = Cl, Br and I). The two isomorphous (PRSH)3Bi2X9 (X = Br, I) species, containing isolated [Bi2X9]3- anions, are triclinic at room temperature and convert upon heating into a monoclinic structure through a displacive …

Molecular Multi‐Wavelength Optical Anion Sensors

2010

Polychromatic fingerprinting of simple anions (halides, oxo anions) is achieved by employing neutral and charged multicolor fluorescent probes based on ferrocene-spaced dansyl and naphthyl groups (1/1 + ; 2/2 + ). The conformation of the neutral double dye sensor 2 has been elucidated by NMR spectroscopic techniques (in solution), by X-ray crystallography (solid state) and by DFT calculations (gas phase). The double-dye receptors 2/2 + exhibit specific emission responses in the presence of anions X- when excited at the absorption maxima of the dyes (fingerprint).

Polymorphism of Copper(I) Halide π-Complexes: Synthesis and Structure of a New Modification of [Cu2Cl2(CH2=CH–CH2)2O]

2008

A new polymorph of [Cu2Cl2(CH2=CH-CH 2)2O] has been obtained by an alternating-current electrochemical synthesis starting from CuCl2 and triallylphosphite. Diallylether was obtained in statu nascendi via transetherification of triallylphosphite. The structure is monoclinic, space group P21/n, a = 7.6738(7), b = 6.5128(4), c = 18.2689(18) A, β = 91.644(11)°, V = 912.67(13) A3 (at 150 K), Z = 4; R1 = 0.0339, wR2 = 0.0822. Flexibility of the organic ligand and weak interactions copper⋯halogen have been identified as the main reasons enabling polymorphism in molecular π-complexes of copper(I). ©2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Synthesis and structure of the incomplete cuboidal clusters [W3Se4H3(dmpe)3]+, [W3Se4H3−x(OH)x(dmpe)3]+and [W3Se4(OH)3(dmpe)3]+, and the mechanism of…

2004

The novel incomplete cuboidal cluster [W3Se4H3(dmpe)3](PF6), [1](PF6), has been prepared by reduction of [W3Se4Br3(dmpe)3](PF6) with LiBH4 in THF solution. The trihydroxo complex [W3Se4(OH)3(dmpe)3](PF6), [2](PF6), was obtained by reacting [W3Se4Br3(dmpe)3](PF6) with NaOH in MeCN–H2O solution. The complexes [1](PF6) and [2](PF6) were converted to their BPh4− salts by treatment with NaBPh4. Recrystallisation of [1](BPh4) in the presence of traces of water affords the mixed dihydride hydroxo complex [W3Se4H2(OH)(dmpe)3](BPh4). The crystal structures of [1](BPh4), [2](BPh4) and [W3Se4H2(OH)(dmpe)3](BPh4) have been resolved. Although the [1]+ trihydride does not react with an excess of halide s…
