Controlling diffusion of 3He by buffer gases: a structural contrast agent in lung MRI.

Purpose: To study the influence of admixing inert buffer gases to laser-polarized 3 He in terms of resulting diffusion coefficients and the consequences for image contrast and resolution. Materials and Methods: The diffusion coefficient of 3 He was altered by admixing buffer gases of various molecular weights ( 4 He, N2, and SF6). The influence of the pulse sequence and the diffusion coefficient on the appearance of MRI of (laserpolarized) gases was analyzed by comparison of basic theoretical concepts with demonstrative experiments. Macroeconomic Modelling in EMU: How Relevant is the Change in Regime?

We analyse the likely effects of changes in the monetary and financial regimes of EMU countries on the dynamics of output and inflation. In particular, we evaluate the impact of the regime shift on the forecasting performance of reduced-form models. Data for both the pre-EMU and the EMU regimes are generated by a relatively standard open-economy-DSGE model with sticky prices and wages and restricted access to financial markets for some individuals. We find that the effects of the shift in the monetary regime on the processes followed by macroeconomic variables depend on the nature of the shocks hitting the economy. L'objectiu d'aquest estudi és analitzar els nivells de la síndrome d'esgotament professional (SEP) (burnout) en una mostra de policies municipals, i avaluar la influència que els conflictes interpersonals amb els ciutadans, juntament amb el suport social a la feina del supervisor i dels companys, tenen sobre les dimensions de la SEP i sobre la inclinació a l'absentisme. La mostra de l'estudi està formada per 149 policies municipals. La SEP es va avaluar amb el Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Obesity, metabolic syndrome, and hyperleptinemia are associated with aging and age-associated diseases including prostate cancer. One experimental approach to inhibit tumor growth is to reduce dietary protein intake and hence levels of circulating amino acids. Dietary protein restriction (PR) increases insulin sensitivity and suppresses prostate cancer cell tumor growth in animal models, providing a rationale for clinical trials. Abstract This paper analyzes the external solvency of a group of 23 OECD countries for the period 1970–2012. The empirical strategy adopted underlines the increasing importance of the financial channel for the external adjustment as proposed in Gourinchas and Rey (2007) . We unify the traditional approaches to testing for external sustainability considering the stock-flow system created by the variables representing the external relationships of an open economy.
