Micro-Raman study of red decorations in French faiences of the 18th and 19th centuries

Obtaining the red color was a technical and economic challenge for the French faience manufactories in the 18th and 19th centuries. The tendency of the red hematite to turn into drab brown during the firing process explains the difficulty in obtaining this color. Red decorations in shards coming from the four production centers of faience manufacturing during this period—Rouen (northwest), Nevers (central), Thiviers (southwest) and Argonne (northeast)—have been studied by means of micro-Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). This study examines the construction of ethnicity in the permanent exhibitions of two museums: Siida, the National Museum of the Finnish Sámi and the Nature Centre of Metsähallitus, and Ájtte, the Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum. The study is motivated by three research questions: What kind of ethnic categories and boundaries do the exhibitions create? How is Sámi ethnicity defined by displaying cultural features? Bakalaura darba mērķis bija aprobēt programmu aktīvu un prosociālu stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģiju pilnveidei pusaudžiem un jaunajiem pieaugušajiem un analizēt tās efektivitāti. Datu ieguvei tika izmantota Stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģiju skala (Strategic Aproach to the Coping Scale – SACS) (Hobfoll, Dunahoo, & Monnier, 1998); Latvijā aptauju adaptējusi Vija Mika 2002. gadā. Eksperimentālajā pētījuma piedalījās 112 respondenti vecumā no 11 līdz 17 gadiem: 74 pusaudži vecumā no 11-16 gadiem, 38 – jaunie pieaugušie, kuri randomizēti tika sadalīti 2 grupās: eksperimentālajā un kontrolgrupā - 56 katrā. Maģistra darbā tiek pētīta skolēnu izpratne par pedagoga emocionālo inteliģenci. Mūsdienu postmodernisma sabiedrībā dzīvās saskarsmes īpatsvars samazinās, ņemot vērā informāciju tehnoloģiju aizvien pieaugošo izplatību. Saskarsmes spējas mūsdienās ir īpaši nepieciešamas darbā ar cilvēkiem, jo īpaši ar bērniem un pusaudžiem, kuri vēl tikai mācās uzvedības modeļus un mēģina izveidot savu personību. This article puts forward an explanation of climate change within the context of global change. Climate change can be seen as the spearhead; as a manifestation of the increasing unsustainability of planet Earth. We consider some of the effects of this change, examining its uneven impact on developed and under-developed countries. We then put forward various proposals of how to deal with climate change, highlighting Socolow’s theory in particular. Nanoporous kaolin – cellulose nanofibril composites for printed electronics

Cellulose nano- and microfibrils (CNF/CMF) grades vary significantly based on the raw materials and process treatments used. In this study four different CNF/CMF grades were combined with kaolin clay pigment particles to form nanoporous composites. The attained composite properties like porosity, surface smoothness, mechanical properties and density properties depended strongly on the raw materials used. In general, higher kaolin content (~80 wt%) led to controllable shrinkage during drying, which resulted in improved dimensional stability of composites, compared to a lower kaolin content (~50 wt%). Tutkielma käsittelee lapsille suunnatun filosofian pioneerin Matthew Lipmanin pedagogista ajattelua. Tavoitteena on etsiä vastausta siihen, miksi Lipmanin mukaan filosofiaa tulisi opettaa lapsille kouluissa jo varhaisesta ikävaiheesta lähtien. Lisäksi tarkastelen lasten filosofointia kohtaan suunnattua kritiikkiä sekä Lipmanin ajatteluun mahdollisesti liittyviä teoreettisia ongelmia. Lähestymistapa on ongelmakeskeinen. Tutkielman alussa tarkastellaan koulutuksen standardiparadigmaa, jota Lipman pitää ongelmallisena.
