Innocampus Explora: Nuevas formas de comunicar ciencia

[EN] Innocampus Explora aims to show the students of the Burjassot-Paterna campus of the Universitat de València how the different scientific degrees are interrelated. To do this we propose activities in which students and teachers work together to cover the interdisciplinary nature of science, both in everyday and professional issues. Throughout this course the activities developed relate to new ways to communicate science. With the development of this project we contribute to a transversal quality education for all the participating students.

[EN] Human physiology is a basic subject during the first courses related to health sciences. Physiology as a discipline is markedly heterogeneous, since it includes anatomical, functional, molecular and biochemical notions, all widely interconnected. For this reason, it is difficult for students to integrate this knowledge, especially in the first years where the rest of related subjects (general biology, biochemistry, etc.) are taken at the same time. [EN] The aim of this work was to promote a higher implication of the students in the development of a subject from the Physical Activity and Sport Sciences bachelor belonging to University of Valencia, through a collaborative learning strategy in which the creation, in small groups, of audiovisual documentaries and their subsequent presentation in a edublog, was used. 48 students from the Ontinyent campus were involved. [EN] This service learning collaboration combines community service with academic learning. With that purpose, a collaboration network was created between the University of Valencia and Escola Gavina, a preschool, primary and secondary school. The objective was twofold, first, it attempts to give postgraduate students the opportunity to carry out a diagnostic of the inter-organizational relations of Escola Gavina. [EN] We present a model based on activities for the acquisition of essential competences of the scientific-technical qualifications, developed throughout the course of Cell Biology of the 1st year of the Degree in Biotechnology. For example, the search and analysis of bibliographic information and the design and interpretation of experiments are closely related and very important competences in the training of the biotechnologist, however they are not well contemplated in a specific way in the study plans. The proposed activities, designed under the premises of the constructive alignment of Biggs and Tang, develop these competences jointly and within the framework of a single subject.

Efectos en el examen final de la participación del estudiante en cuestionarios online

[EN] This paper looks into the different evolution of students’ online questionnaire performance and its impact on the final examination mark. This innovative technique has been used in a group of an introductory financial accounting course with 8 online questionnaires (one per unit). Using cluster analysis, we identify different groups of performance evolution. The evidence obtained suggests that in one of this groups a favourable test performance evolution may lead to overconfidence with the subsequent negative effect on the final examination mark.
