Follow-up in transthyretin familial amyloid polyneuropathy: Useful investigations

Patients with transthyretin amyloid polyneuropathy (TTR-FAP) and asymptomatic mutation-carriers have to be regularly followed-up in order to identify disease progression and the time point for starting or modifying therapy. In this case series we describe the potential suitability of different variables as progression markers. We retrospectively analyzed the follow-up charts of 10 TTR-FAP patients. Clinical examination included the Neuropathy Impairment Score of Lower Limb (NIS-LL), temperature perception thresholds, nerve conduction and autonomic function tests. Transient stability simulation of a fixed speed wind turbine by Matlab/Simulink

This paper describes the dynamic behavior of a typical fixed speed wind turbine connected to the grid; the model is developed in the simulation tool Matlab/Simulink and created as a modular structure. The pitch control system is used for stabilization of the wind turbine at grid faults. In this way, voltage stability of the system with grid-connected wind turbines can be improved by using blade-angle control for a temporary reduction of the wind turbine power during a short-circuit fault in the grid. This paper presents the results of an experimental study investigating the interface behaviour between calcarenite stone and Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) reinforcement. The analysis of the results has allowed to deduce the local behaviour at the interface, which can be modelled by means of a bi-linear shear stress-slip law, according to several codes. The experimental investigation was carried out on specimens subjected to double shear pulling tests by varying the bond length of the CRFP strips. This study explores the nexus between tourism and migration on an intra-European scale over the period 2000–2015. Complex-network analysis and gravity models were the investigation methods preferred. For each year under study, we built two country-to-country networks to map and reveal the connections between states as shaped by migration stocks and tourism flows, respectively.
