Die selektive invers-voltammetrische Bestimmung des Antimons in salzsauren Lösungen nach Lösungswechsel in einer einfachen Durchflußzelle
1987
The selective invers-voltammetric determination of antimony in a simple flow-through cell in hydrochloric acid solutions is described. After double medium exchange for post-electrolysis and inverse-voltammetric determination, the determination of antimony is possible in the presence of a large excess of copper, bismuth and other elements. The limit of determination is 0.2–0.3 ppb Sb, the reproducibility 1.5% (10 ppb Sb).
Coordination behavior of sulfathiazole. Crystal structure of [Cu (sulfathiazole) (py)3Cl] superoxide dismutase activity
1995
Abstract The preparation, spectroscopic, magnetic properties, and crystal structure of [Cu(stzxpy) 3 Cl] (stz − stands for the deprotonated form of sulfathiazole, 4-amino-N-2-thiazolylbencenosulfonamide) are reported. Crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pbca, with cell constants a = 15.834(2), b = 17.512(4), and c = 18.79(2) A, and Z = 8. The structure was solved and refined to R = 0.041 (R W = 0.040). The structure consists of mononuclear units linked via hydrogen bonds to form the tridimensional pyramid. The geometry of CuN3N*NCl chromophore is distorted square-pyramid. The superoxide-dismutase mimetic activity of the compound is measured and compared with those of the SOD enzyme, the …
The role of metal oxides as promoters of V2O5/γ-Al2O3 catalysts in the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane
1997
Summary The physicochemical properties of potassium-, bismuth-, phosphorous- and molybdenum-doped (Me/V atomic ratios of 0 to 1) V 2 O 5 /γ-Al 2 O 3 catalysts and their catalytic behavior in the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane have been compared. The incorporation of metal oxides modifies the catalytic behavior of alumina-supported vanadia catalysts by changing both their redox and their acid-base properties. In this way, the addition of potassium leads to the best increase in the selectivity to propylene. This performance can be related to the modification of the acid character of the surface of the catalysts. The possible role of both redox and acid-base properties of catalysts on th…
Chlorophyll a fluorescence, antioxidant enzymes and lipid peroxidation in tomato in response to ozone and benomyl
2001
Ozone is a widely distributed phytotoxic air pollutant and is known to reduce the yield of several important agricultural crops in Spain. However, benomyl has been found to lessen the adverse impact of ozone on plants. We studied the effects of ozone and benomyl on chlorophyll a fluorescence, antioxidant enzymes, and lipid peroxidation in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Tiny Tim) grown in open-top chambers in the field. Our results indicate that benomyl prevented the peroxidation of membrane lipids and increased protection of PSII from ozone. There was also a significant reduction in the activity of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase in ozone-exposed plants that had not b…

Real-Time Observation of “Soft” Magic-Size Clusters during Hydrolysis of the Model Metallodrug Bismuth Disalicylate
2021
International audience; Colloidal bismuth therapeutics have been used for hundreds of years, yet remain mysterious. Here we report an X-ray pair distribution function (PDF) study of the solvolysis of bismuth disalicylate, a model for the metallodrug bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol). This reveals catalysis by traces of water, followed by multistep cluster growth. The ratio of the two major species, {Bi9O7} and {Bi38O44}, depends on exposure to air, time, and the solvent. The solution-phase cluster structures are of significantly higher symmetry in comparison to solid-state analogues, with reduced off-center Bi3+ displacements. This explains why such “magic-size” clusters can be both stab…
Journalismus aus erzähltheoretischer Perspektive
2018
The essay demonstrates how the narratological theories developed in the field of literary studies can accomplish a better comprehension of journalistic narratives. As they have to accommodate the principles of journalism, these narratives have to be true, topical and impartial. From this point of view storytelling and the inverted-pyramid principle prove themselves as two complementary approaches of journalistic narration, whose stories are all constructed on the basis of real world occurrences and the ideologies of the diverse societies. Storytelling is enabling the communication of individual experience and the inverted-pyramid principle is supporting the narrative construction of future-…
Dielectric investigation of lead‐free perovskite strontium titanate with 25% bismuth ceramics
2009
In this work lead-free 0.75SrTiO3-0.25BiTiO3 ceramics have been investigated in broad frequency range. Obtained results showed pronounced dispersion below room temperature typical for the dipolar glasses. The calculated relaxation time distribution function broadens toward longest relaxation times part on cooling. The obtained most probable relaxation time diverges according to the Vogel-Fulcher relationship with the following parameters: dipole activation energy EA=2123 K, glassy state temperature T0=52.7 K, shortest relaxation time, referring to dipole relaxations at very high temperatures, τ0=2.1·10–14 s. Influence of Pendant Arms Bearing Ligating Groups on the Structure of Bismuth Porphyrins: Implications for Labeling Immunoglobulins Used in Medical A…
2004
International audience; The synthesis of two picket bismuth(III) porphyrins is reported, and their crystal structures are compared. The influence of the nature of the pickets, as well as their number, is discussed in terms of stability, kinetics of metalation, structure, and distortion of the porphyrin. Unexpectedly, the resultsindicate that the coordination sphere of bismuth is not affected by different types of distortion nor is the stability of the complex. For both types of complexes, the X-ray crystallography revealed that a single arm is actually in direct interaction with the bismuth cation, thereby allowing furtherfunctionalization on the porphyrin core as the linkage with immunoglo…
<title>Formation of dislocations and hardening of LiF crystals irradiated with energetic Au, Bi, Pb, and S ions</title>
2003
The irradiation of LiF crystals with Au, Pb, Bi, and S ions in the range of 400 - 2200 MeV leads to a remarkable increase of the hardness. The effect appears for Bi and Pb ions at fluences above 109 ions/cm2 and for S ions above 1010 ions/cm2. The increase of hardness follows the energy loss and is related to the formation of defects along the ion path. Defect complexes, clusters and aggregates with nanoscale dimensions serve as strong obstacles for dislocations and cause dispersion strengthening. Structural investigations reveal the generation of long-range stress in the adjacent non-irradiated part of the crystal. Close to the implantation zone, the stress exceeds the yield strength, caus…
