2023
Based on a corpus of videos collected on the Tik Tok platform, our study aims to analyse the plurisemicity and memetic functioning of these productions. We seek to show the effectiveness of these native productions of Tik Tok through a strategic and integrated use of different semis. This is why we are working on the analysis of digital discourses and post-dualist epistemological work in this field of language sciences. Through our analytical work, we wish to contribute to the questioning of written/oral, man/machine and text/image oppositions.

2020
The figure of the interpreter in history has always oscillated between visibility and invisibility. Although today there is a tendency to give it increasing recognition, some categories (cultural mediators, war and sign interpreters) still remain in a poorly recognized situation and often operate in precarious working conditions. The interpreter as a subject of study has been present in world literature for years. We will investigate what has become the interpreter as a subject in world cinema. What is the semiotic process for which a given image of the interpreter communicates a certain cliché or suggests certain characteristics that the director (or the screenwriter) wanted to highlight. …
Immersion revisited:A review of existing definitions of immersion and their relation to different theories of presence
2016
The term immersion continues to be applied inconsistently within and across different fields of research connected with the study of virtual reality and interactive media. Moreover, immersion is oftentimes used interchangeably with the terms presence and engagement. This article details a review of existing definitions of immersion originating within the study of video games, virtual environments, and literary works of fiction. Based on this review, a three-dimensional taxonomy of the various conceptualizations of immersion is proposed. That is, the existing definitions of immersion may be broadly divided into three categories, each representing a dimension of the taxonomy: immersion as a p…
2020
Impoliteness is a prevailing feature in Arturo Pérez-Reverte’s columns. Against all odds, it has a big argumentative effectiveness, since it allows the locutor to show an image of himself which is virtuous, that is a sincere, credible and, for this reason, persuasive. After all, as Aristotle states in his Rhetoric, persuasion depends on locutor’s ability to project an attractive ethos (self-image). Among the qualities that guarantees this attraction, the Stagirite includes the virtue, i.e. the speaker’s ability to tell frankly his/her opinions and ideas. In Pérez-Reverte’s columns, the realization of this quality is exactly what determines a frankness bordering sometimes on impoliteness. Ho…
