1. Ninety male Wistar rats were divided into two groups. A control group (C) was fed on a balanced diet, containing 200 g protein/kg for 51 d. An experimental group (E) was fed on a low-protein diet containing 50 g protein/kg for 28 d (PM), and then on a balanced diet for 23 d (BR). Fludioxonil is a fungicide with a singular mode of action that is widely employed in the treatment of fruit crops. A competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (cELISA) has been developed and validated for the determination of residues of this fungicide in fruit juices. A collection of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against the fungicide fludioxonil has been produced and characterized using direct and indirect cELISAs. A possibility of a combination of supported liquid membrane (SLM) and solid-phase extraction (SPE) for the determination of atrazine at microgram level in different type of fruit juices is presented. In comparison to SPE extraction from juice samples, the application of SLM-SPE enrichment provides much cleaner extracts and the possibility of lowering the limit of detection as low as 30 microg/l. However, it was also shown that by appropriate manipulation of SLM extraction conditions mainly flow-rate of donor phase and volume ratio between donor and acceptor phase, the level of detection can be further decreased to 10 microg/l. Abstract The suitability of competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) with chemiluminescent detection-based immobilized antigen (indirect assay) for rapid and accurate determination of chlorpyrifos in various food matrices was tested. The limit of detection (LOD) values were 1–1.75 ng mL−1, the standard curve midpoint (IC50) was 3.5 ng mL−1, and the assay duration was 1.5 h. Assay application to the analysis of honeybee extract resulted in chlorpyrifos recoveries varying between 62 and 83% in 5–15 ng mL−1 herbicide concentration range.

BACKGROUND: In order to evaluate the effect of citrus greening disease, or Huanglongbing (HLB), on quality components and flavonoid contents of 'Valencia' oranges, fruit from non-infected trees (control), from infected trees but symptom-less (asymptomatic) and from infected trees and showing clear HLB symptoms (symptomatic) were harvested in March and in May, 2013. Fruit peel, pulp and juice were separated, the main quality components were determined, and hesperidin, nobiletin, tangeretin, narirutin and didymin were quantified using liquid chromatography. The effect of the plant growth regulators kinetin, gibberellic acid (GA3), and 2,4- dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), either alone or in combination with orange juice, on the in vitro growth of mesocarp and endocarp explants from 90–120 day-old Washington Navel Citrus sinensis orange fruits has been determined. Both fruit tissues formed callus. From endocarp 100% callus was formed in all cultures, even without growth regulators in the culture medium, while callus growth was lower from mesocarp.
