ANTARES: The first undersea neutrino telescope

The ANTARES Neutrino Telescope was completed in May 2008 and is the first operational Neutrino Telescope in the Mediterranean Sea. The main purpose of the detector is to perform neutrino astronomy and the apparatus also offers facilities for marine and Earth sciences. This paper describes the design, the construction and the installation of the telescope in the deep sea, offshore from Toulon in France. An illustration of the detector performance is given. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Bruņērces līdz šim ir maz izmantotas sukcesiju pētījumos un zināšanas par augsnes faunas un bruņērču atbildes reakcijām uz dažādiem traucējumiem ir ierobežotas, taču to relatīvi lēnais dzīves cikls un plašā izplatība tās padara par efektīviem ilgtermiņa bioindikatoriem, kas var liecināt par degšanas ietekmes smagumu. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot kontrolētas dedzināšanas ietekmi uz augsnes bruņērču sabiedrībām, zemsedzi un augsnes parametriem priežu mētrājā. Augsnes paraugi ievākti pirms un 16 dienas pēc kontrolētas dedzināšanas. Pēc degšanas bruņērču indivīdu skaits samazinājies par 93% un sugu skaits par 77%. Izmaiņas ietekmē degšanas ietekmes smagums. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt PDI A17 (AGR2) izoformas strukturālās un funkcionālās īpašības, pro-onkogēno proteīndisulfīdu izomerāžu (PDI) selektīvo inhibitoru meklēšanas projekta ietvaros. Šīm nolūkam izstrādāt protokolu PDI A17 iegūšanai aktīvā formā, un piemērot proteīnu kodolu magnētiskās rezonanses (KMR) spektroskopijas pētīšanas metodei. Izpētīt saistību starp neaktivēto un aktivēto aziridīn-2-karbonskābes atvasinājumiem un PDI A17 izoformu. Šajā darbā aprakstīta optimizētas PDI A17 izoformas iegūšana, pamatoti izvēlētie apstākļi un metodes proteīna-ligandu saistības testēšanai ar 2D 1H-15N-HSQC eksperimenta palīdzību. Evidence for High-Energy Extraterrestrial Neutrinos at the IceCube Detector

We report on results of an all-sky search for high-energy neutrino events interacting within the IceCube neutrino detector conducted between May 2010 and May 2012. The search follows up on the previous detection of two PeV neutrino events, with improved sensitivity and extended energy coverage down to approximately 30 TeV. Twenty-six additional events were observed, substantially more than expected from atmospheric backgrounds. Combined, both searches reject a purely atmospheric origin for the twenty-eight events at the $4\sigma$ level. AbstractCationic amino acid transporters play an important role in the intracellular supply of l-Arg and the generation of nitric oxide. Since the transport of l-Arg is voltage-dependent, we aimed at determining the intracellular l-Arg concentration and describing the transport of l-Arg in terms of Michaelis–Menten kinetics, taking into account membrane voltage. The human isoforms of the cationic amino acid transporters, hCAT-1, hCAT-2A, and hCAT-2B, were expressed in oocytes from Xenopus laevis and studied with the voltage clamp technique and in tracer experiments.
